IIRC the moment another controller input is detected it auto split screens.
Steam input disabled?
* Go to the game in your library.
* Click the cog on the right-hand side, just underneath the banner
* Go to "Controller" and in the dropdown menu select "Disable Steam Input"
Can confirm this worked, thanks!
Actually it did work! However, if you got stuck in the modal that tells you that the second player can’t join unless you rest then force quit through the Steam launcher, the game autosaves, at which point, the most recent save is at a point where the game still thinks a second player is trying to join. The fix here is to Load a previous save before this point (hopefully its not too far from when it happened) and it should do the trick. As an extra set of assurance I also, changed the multiplayer settings to “Closed” for Online Visibility and made sure LAN connections was “Off” and Direct Connection ID “On”.
Hope that helps :)
