Honestly, you should probably pump out some long rests anyway just to make sure companion dialogues are all caught up, they tend to fall behind if you play efficiently. There's no real punishment for long resting in Act 1 outside of a certain quest in the underdark.

Kind of amusing, too. I played evil in the first game and I don't think I finished any "ally" quests, and now this game where I'm good, I've gathered so many, I can't imagine how easy this fight will be now. I didn't have too much trouble going it alone, even did it minus a party member because I had to off one from a poor choice and didn't pick up a merc. Now I'm practically taking an army with me.
