I haven't heard of mods being manager exclusive, except for the "Native Mod" stuff which are basically introducing .dlls to the game binaries which I'm not really a fan of, but those can be installed through both managers.
I found some mods that require BG3 Mod Manager, when downloading from the Nexus website. Do I need to install it or is Vortex going to be enough?
Because of this, I've been running both and it's really cumbersome. While Vortex uses individual mod folders inside the "Mods" folder, BG3MM uses .pak files directly inside the "Mods" folder. It can get very annoying updating each new mod.
Any help would be appreciated!
The author tagged the mod manager as required at a time before BG3 was adopted into Vortex or they prefer the non branded version. I.e. worry that Vortex collects data, it does, a bit. Not to qn extend that worries me personally.
Lots of mods on Nexus also pint to a release fix mod. That's also deprecated.
Not sure if the authors can't easily update the requirements or never bother.
Vortex generally does the exact same things as a game's given mod manager but in a uniform ui layout. If you play multiple games with mods it can be preferable to learning to work with yet another coder's idea of good UI design :-)
Requirements can be changed anytime for Nexus mods page.
As a mod creator and mod user I recommend not using Vortex. It might be good with mods which are compatible to updates, but from what I have seen is that the majority of mod creators do not bother with compatibility like that. It is better to install mods manually to learn the ropes. A mod manager is comfortable, but you should not use it either unless you understand the basics.
