There's a game made by Larian, called Divinity: Dragon Commander. You play as a king of your country, and there's a lot of cutscenes, characters and political choices you have to make. In this game your marrying options are girls only, also there is an option to completely ban LGBTQ in your country. You dwarven advisor will love it while elven one will be mad.

It would be easier for studios to avoid the LGBTQ issue altogether and launch a game without any controversy.
Larian have been brave and tried to include everyone.
If this upsets and frightens a few people then get the tiny violin out.

The game is filling a niche with its round based system, and got very much hyped.

Just take a look at streamers, how many of them are not save cheating throught half the game ?

If the game mechanics would really be the selling point - save scamming would be a minority, it isnt.

Same goes for LGBTo or Anti LGBTO - i mean seriously there are more hints out on the web on how to get Shadowheart into bed than how to beat half the bosses.

And i really dont want to know how man camps there are with every female running around nacked ...

Larian wasnt brave - they are illuded enought that they really think lesbian love scenes would help the gay comunity, while in reallity most girl on girl love in the game is happening with 30 year old guys creating a hot girl char to undress.

What I mean is not that it's success because of LGBT, I'm simply saying that it helped. Probably in minor way, as majority of people are just starved for good games.
The fact that BG3 released in time where we have compilation of apology letters of studios, also helped.

BG3 isn't this awangarde new genre shaping game. It's just good game. And the amount of praise it gets, means that people were starving for finally getting good, working, game at launch.

They expect some kind of caricature who's every line of dialogue ends like, "I love being a trans woman!!!!" instead of, you know, a character who changed who they were and are happy and then offers to sell you stuff.

Also *I* play as a trans man. The character creator is uniquely set up to let you pick body, genitals, voice and what pronouns people will use for your character (he/him, she/her, they/them). This is one of the few games that let's you do so, and it's a really lovely way to allow people to customise their characters and make them trans and not have it be mentioned all the time either. People just accept that you're a man without it being a big deal and it's very nice. It's extremely liberating to play a game where I'm just a lil guy scrunkling around in someone's basement when I shouldn't be to find a ring or something and then when someone talks about me in a cutscene they are like, "Man, ♥♥♥♥ this guy. He's dead. He's ruining my plans!" without me having to prompt people all the time to not call me a girl or something.

The way the character creator is set up is something many gender diverse people have wanted for ages. It really has very little baring on the story itself, it just means you get to play a trans character. This feature is very important to many, and probably easily overlooked by literally everyone else. And if people get a bee in their bonnet over a feature with the character creator they wouldn't even use then they should really learn that not everything is for them, this feature hurts no one and certain does not detract from their playthrough of the game, and maybe they need to learn to be a better person.

More options are always good. I just wish they gave human male more handsome options for face. It's hard to be human fighter Tav.

Every race in the CC has like 6 options for the face, and not all of them are going to be your cup of tea or make you look exactly like you or oc or whatever. Embrace modding if you're looking to make a giga chad dude or something boring like that. The mod community is only going to put out more stuff as time goes on, and I am excited to see what they come up with. I'm really hoping for some more tail options for Tieflings instead of the default one that you get.

It's been a few years so I might not remember correctly, but the skeleton advisor was painted as a hypocrit, too, saying it should be banned because gay people can't reproduce. As a skeleton, that can't reproduce.
