NPCs running away is so annoying!

I was a Drow and I was almost always accompanied by a plethora of monsters so I can understand the reaction but during my play through Dammon ran away from me into the shadow curse & turned into a zombie I had to kill. I later found out that he was the only Hell forge smith or whatever it's called. I also had to go into turn based mode just to speak to a merchant otherwise they would run all the way across the entire map!

might be a bug? something similar happened to me. upon leaving the gauntlet of shar Minthara decided to take a walk by herself and went ahead of me, who was holding the moonlantern and turned into a zombie as well. i reloaded a save and once i got out the temple a second time she stood still and didn't ran away.

usually when a party member goes into the shadow curse the game auto enters turn base mode but this time it didn't happened so it was for sure a bug. not sure about your issue tho.

It does this with the majority of monsters or animals. I played as a Beastmaster on my first playthrough and had to only pull out my animals or summons whenever I was engaging in a fight that I knew was for sure to happen otherwise people would run away or, like you, end up dead on accident.

It's incredibly frustrating and pointless. I think that should be fixed as soon as possible as it ruins a lot of the gameplay to the point that if I do another playthrough, I will not be using anything with summons lol

i had this same issue in act 3, after i got caught in a criminal act and had to kill the guards. suddenly literally EVERY npc in the whole of baldurs gate was running away from me. even npc's essential for quests.

It's so stupid. A freaking *mindflayer* was running around freaking out over a bear being in town.
