FSR 3.0
So, AMD have announced that FSR 3.0 integrated games and patches to current games will start rolling out this autumn. Also, we are given to believe BG3 will be getting an FSR fix and upgrade this autumn.

Makes me wonder... any chance BG3 will be getting FSR 3.0? That would be amazing, and could really do a lot to sort frame rate issues. The timing of the FSR 3.0 announcement and release date makes this feel tempting to imagine it might be on the cards. Could this happen?

A surprise to be sure but a welcome one. I really hope BG3 gets fsr 3.0 but I have heard no news about that unfortunately as of yet.

I am certain AMD would like to see their latest FSR system all over BG3, and it would explain nicely why Larian put in a somewhat broken FSR 1.0 place holder instead of FSR 2.x only to wait for autumn so they have permission to use the latest release. I can't see why Larian would prefer to go with FSR 2.x, though there may be some technical reason. I do hope not though, as AMD must surely have been keenly encouraging Larian to pick FSR 3.0 if at all possible.

We know BG3 was released a month early to catch the right moment for the best sales. Best plan and all, given the circumstances, but otherwise they would have been releasing right at FSR 3.0 launch time which seems a hell of a coincidence.

Larian obvioujsly doesnt care since they didnt implement FSR 2 yet :)

well given the fact there is a CPU limitation issue at the moment with this game that hasn't been patched yet no amount of upscaling is going to fix your fps issues....

Problem with that logic is, FSR 1.0 already works great to improve frame rate. It's just that the implementation is a bit borked, has standard sharpening jammed on max and FSR sharpening forced off, and looks ruddy awful. It knackers the AA setting too.

Part of the issue is that the Vulkan renderer is currently not working well. It seems likely that this will be sorted out hand in hand with the proper FSR implementation coming in, so there may be some good performance gains to be had from that.

If Larian eventually comes out with a solid, polished, and finished Definitive Edition with FSR 3.0, I will try to be first to pre-order with money hand over fist. BG3 could certainly earn a place in the pantheon of GOATed games.

With the PS5 release imminent, I wouldn't be surprised if FSR3 was on the way for BG3.

Though FSR 3.0 works on Xbox, and we know Larian are doing all they can to get the Xbox Series S version working smoothly enough, so they will have been looking at options like FSR 3.0 for that goal. I can't see how a PS5 release is relevant to FSR improvements really, though they could implement FSR for PS5 too I guess? I'm not really a console person so I'm not sure how that all works, but AMD seem to be pushing the universal compatibility angle hard for FSR 3.0 and they are explicitly including consoles in that hype bundle.

Both consoles have full AMD hardware so it wouldn't make sense for consoles to not be able to use FSR anyway even if AMD wouldn't be going for crossbrand compatibility.

In case all of yall zoned out when launching the game like me:
The most probable reason Larian didn't bother too much with FSR on launch is because there is a big ass Nvidia logo on the screen every time you launch BG3.

Does this game have DLSS? I have an AMD card.

Very unlike thing to happen. If it would have been option Larian would have used FSR 2.0… But instead did use 1.0 so 3.0…. Very unlike to hapen.
Does not mean much, because the game is CPU limited, so making GPU faster does not help at all…

Pointless feature just like DLSS
