I did it before the patch today, but I still have them both and fully functional after the patch. Minthara + Karlach/Wyll is an intended possibility(and there's dialogue about each other) cause some people are simply not gonna go to the goblin camp
The quest will not complete and the game locks you in the "Tieflings doesn't survive act 1"-path. The game is binary here and offers no middleground. Kiss goodbye a lot of early act2 gear upgrades (several merchants missing at last light) as well as Karlachs personal quest. If both things doesn't matter - Minthara is worth it.
Halsin could be replaced by Jaheira (actually she is a better choice as she has some quests in act 3).
I too have a character with both Minthara and Halsin - this isn't retroactive. But everybody going for Minthara now will face the changes from patch 1. So the old know-how doesn't cut it anymore. (those were hacks after all)
You might have overread my post above yours on page one - the patch 1 forced the halsin-mithara mutual exclusivness: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1086940/discussions/0/3819669231700157155/#c3819669231700175771
I like her as a character and I empathize with the fact shes literally being mind controlled, and free of the absolute she isnt quite the same person.
But with that being said, I'm not exactly losing sleep over it. I just dont necessarily enjoy it.
I mean, you Gale hasn't complained yet, but I find him quite annoying anyway and that's without his needy condition.
Shadowheart, laezel and astarion isn't a terrible party to be fair and swapping minthara in for someone, maybe shadowheart may well be OK... I'll have to test it!
So what I'm gathering in this thread is:
that not telling Minthera where to sick her goblin army AND jumping straight to act 2 to meet her at Moonrise-somehow the "game" narratively still kills the tieflings. So the only conclusion I can draw is that it's the druids that kill the tieflings off-screen.
So what happens if you just kill the druids instead?
Don't tell Minthera-kills the druids- then hop onto act 2
Will the tieflings make it to Last Light Inn? Or is the story coding not account for that and they still die?
As Yhvh10 said
Her requirements just don't align with her character, and were all just trying to find a workaround.
