Did they Nerf the Danse Macarbe spell!!??
So I've been using this spell and it's is VERY powerful! So powerful that I was able to kill a pretty hard boss. But after the latest update it seems as if the spell has been nerfed. This is a spell that before the update let me summon 6 ghouls with around 44 hitpoints and it was a level 6 spell. Now it's only a level 5 spell and can only summon 4 ghouls with 22 hitpoints! Is this a bug or did they nerf the Hell out of the spell?!

Can you cast it at level 6 for 5 ghouls? Does it work like that?

that sucks. I just got the spell last night and got to use it two whole times before the patch

Yep. At least you used to be able too. From what I can tell from the most recent patch notes they have indeed nerfed it. It was a bit OP but I can also confirm some new issues with the spell too.
In addition to only being a level 5 spell now and only being able to summon 4 ghouls.
YOU CAN NO LONGER CONTROL THE GHOULS! So basically the spell is completely worthless. It saved me many times being able to position the ghouls in a fight. Now you can't even do that with it. They automatically move and attack. Hell, I can't even unsommon them out of combat now! I could honestly understand the nerf do to how powerful the spell is. But I do not understand making them uncontrollable! I hope that part is just a bug or something on my end.
Here's a patch note about the spell from Larian. "Made adjustments to balance Danse Macabre and fixed the School of Necromancy version to summon creatures correctly again."

glad I got to use it before the nerf. I am at the end of my first playthrough in the final part of act 3. I used my ghouls strategically so many times though. In the cazador fight, I moved them to block 5 of the ritual marks, so he wasn't getting all 6 life buffs. Now you won't be able to do that.

That you can only summon 4 ghouls instead of 6: ok, I can deal with that.
But the AI behind the ghouls is just crap. I summon the 4 ghouls close to the opponent and the ghouls think to themselves:
Oh, 20 meters away is a much nicer opponent. I use spurt/dash, run over and get killed by an opportunity attack. Noice!

To be fair, their brain is quite literally rotten xD

I am in one of the big fights in act 3 final section. I have had the ghouls pass 4 of their turns so far, when the enemy is further than a dash movement. So while my party has been moving up fighting enemies, 3 of the ghouls are just chilling back where the battle started. Not even helpful to soak up attacks!

Yea I’m not gonna lie I played this game mostly so I could be a necromancer and have an army of undead and the fact that they are nerfing the endgame necromancy spell in a single player/coop game is ridiculous. There already isn’t that many options for late game necromancy. And honestly the spell wasn’t that op in late game. Most enemy’s do around 20-40 damage a hit in normal mode so they weren’t even that op. Horrible decision I hope they not only rectify it but also consider adding an actually late game for necromancy.

I think remove the paralyze and change to long rest per cast will be reasonable better or atleast more balanced , I do like the ai change tho , instead wasting time for 6 individual command.

well being able to command them you self makes it kinda op. because as a player you can do alot of cheese with 6 disposable units that is quite strong as well.

With my understanding of the summons in the game is kind of makes sense why they changed it. When you summon minions, they either need to have a certain degree of intelligence or a direct psionic link in order to be directly controlled, and the spell doesn't provide for that. Being able to summon 4 mid-level mobs with one spell and then control them would be pretty OP. Imagine having four opportunities to shove a strong boss off a cliff in addition to your four party members.

I'm ok with the nerf for the most part. The spell was super OP. We should be able to control the undead though, that change makes the spell kind of garbage.
