The chest is now working as intended.
So this patch fixed that and turned it into a basic chest with a gimmick, it is no longer useful for any reason.
Edit:
https://baldursgate3.game/news/patch-1-now-live_87
Fixed a bug where adding items to the Chest of the Mundane changed the weight of an item.
Fixed an issue where the Chest of the Mundane stopped functioning as intended once you arrived in Wyrm's Crossing.
When we use "Disguise Self" and change to Halfling we change weight as well. So magical transformation DOES CHANGE WEIGHT.
This change is simply dumb.
Big negative there...
Why even have this item in the game, they could just remove it if they don't like it.
The chest explicitly stated that items inside have reduced weight. How is that not intended?
Also, I used to use Sussur Blooms to see what was what... The whole mechanic was fun and useful and balanced itself out...
You wanna carry heavy stuff, ok but you won't know what's what until you put'em back into your inventory...
You wanna know what's what inside that chest, well you can, but as long as you do you can't cast any spell... so don't go carrying the sussur with you....
THIS was FUN... and they took it away from us.... Why does this chest exists now? It's just rubbish... Not even interesting, in it's current state... I hope they roll this back!
It'd help your point if you didn't talk about abuse and modding the carry limit at the same time. None too clever, eh?
Pretty sad they treated it as a bug
