Why do all the characters sound like millennials playing D&D?
The more I play, the more I notice it. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but compared to the previous BG games, there's something off about most characters. They don't sound like actual people in this fantasy world, but more like millennial hipsters roleplaying those characters in a game of D&D. Was it Larian's intention? Or is it just me?

That's all that's left of D&D's fanbase after they've spent three editions stripping out rules and neutering fiction authors. Larian's just working with what's there and able to be licensed; if your problem is with what was licensed, that's not a problem with Larian.

please stop reminding me of elminster. I read one of his books and just couldnt anymore.
He's like 1300 years old, give the Gandalf a break.
...And yet, apparently he is the only character in game that doesn't break immersion.

The only thing that breaks my immersion in this game is the awful audo mixing in voice lines, halsin after you recruit him figuring out where to go to act 2 it's bad, loud, quiet, then muffled, it's actually baffling.

My understanding of fantasy writing was that you didn't use "Modern words" and use alternative wording or descriptions. Examples like F**k off would be sod off. Or if you where describing skin color words like pale or dusky would be used not white or black.

Could you give a few examples of this?

Larian is a studio from Belgium - you can tell not only from the fact but also from their inapt storytelling and unfunny 12-y.o. humor, so get you research correct instead of spreading nonsense! Apart from that, a cast is never connected to a dev's home base but to the audience. Doing only one spoken language version English is the natural pick when you want to sell worldwide.

Oh yeah, what is it with European studios and dialogue that sounds like it was written by edgy 14 year olds? I've just started playing Atomic Heart and the dialogue is pure cringe there as well. The main character sounds like a caricature of a "tough badass" who likes to swear, and there's a certain upgrade station that just... let me advise kids not to play that game when their parents are in the room.

That's just poetic writing - not 'fantasy' writing. F**k was being used the same way back in the early 1500's, and possibly even earlier. For some further reading: https://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2020/02/where-did-the-f-word-come-from/

Well, as I said, the voice actor is over 1300 years old so give him a bre... Oooooh, we mean the character. Nevermind.

But yeah, I can't say much about quality, but the loudness of dialogue does seems very, um, varied in act 2 especially.

The English translation of Atomic Heart is awful and incredibly American.

After playing some more / viewing cutscenes I've concluded the entire game sounds like it was written by young woke millennials/zoomers who think they're funny by introducing as many raunchy sex jokes, gay relationships, and modern "lolrandom" humor in the game as they can. No wonder the younger generations are eating it up.

I'm really not sure where you're getting that from. I've played over a hundred hours, and I can't think of a single sex joke. the only character who comes even close to matching your description is Karlach who feels massively out of place compared to the other characters.
