Perfect example of WORST game design

This is the worst video game I’ve ever played. I can’t believe Larian is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid. 90% of the challenge of this game is your dumbass AI companions ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you or themselves by waking into cones of vision while sneaking or falling off the map while exploring.

The ther 10% is the dice rolls which are astoundingly loaded against you. What are the odds of failing 16 dice rolls in a row? Common, apparently. What are the odds that this roll I really want to succeed but just failed will eat all 4 of my aspiration die and still fail? 25-33% chance. How are the enemy rolls so consistently at the 20-30 mark while yours and allies are so consistently at the 10-20 mark with regular sub-10 rolls?

I’m literally having to reload the game every 2 minutes because of how bad the controls are, the statistically impossible steaks of bad rolls, the AI walking into traps requiring a short rest because healing is literally non-existent in DnD, constantly breaking my immersion by doing things I never intended to do. Never have I played a game and felt more that the game was playing me instead of me playing it.

And the half-assed crime and punishment system. With NPCs that can see you stealing stuff through walls or with their backs turned. And then you go to the prison and have to do the whole inventory management thing again? With so much time spent doing inventory management, this lazy, half-baked crime and punishment system is unacceptable.

Why is everything in this game just designed to bring me unhappiness rather than happiness? Oh, I get a cool potion form a Drow? Wow nice I feel powerful, unfortunately I took it at the wrong time and need to long rest before a big fight. Oh great, now I’ve got -1 to ALL my rolls for a huge fight. Why is this necessary? Why can’t a game just be fun and rewarding? Not every game needs to be Dark Souls. In fact, Dark Souls rewards the players appropriately, they never really give you a reward and then rug pull you. This game does it CONSTANTLY. Why does every moment of gameplay in this game need to feel like a stressful battle against insurmountable odds?

And lastly the cringe toilet humour, cringe ERP, horrible story development - really, forced by the game to kill all my companions 30 hours into a run? This is essentially a game over state. Just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ delete my save right then and there and save me the trouble. It’s like playing a FPS without a gun. What were they thinking ? You never kill party members in a TTRPG game. All the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ countless hours I spent managing inventory. Why does the game even think I’m romantically involved with a companion when just because I don’t tel them that I find them stupid and hope they die every time I’m forced to have a dialogue with them? If the game is meant to be played solo, where is my lone wolf perk? If you have you adhere by DnD rules by the book, then you can’t party kill or force players to assassinate each other. There is an evil play through, then there’s just a stupid play through. Then there’s this crap: beyond stupid.

I am never playing a Larian product again. They are officially the most incompetent Deva ever again. I would like to apologize to CDPR, No Man’s Sky, Todd Howard, EA, Ubisoft, Hogwarts Legacy. You guys weren’t that bad. I never knew it could get this bad.

This idea that the rolls are loaded keeps coming up. I've played this game way more than I should have, and I know that the rolls aren't loaded. The nature of chance is that you're going to get streaks of both great and awful luck, if karmic dice is turned off. The other day I played for about six hours, at the start almost every roll was 15+, then during the final hours of the night every roll was a 2, 4, 6 etc. But most of the time there's very little pattern. It's just how statistics works. It's statistically possible to play an entire game and only get natural 1s. It's essentially impossible, but theoretically could happen.

Keep in mind, they essentially shoe horned a "D&D" game into what is essentially Divinity Original Sin 2. That should but most of your criticisms into perspective.

roll system is worst of any crpg i ever played, can not agree more with that one.
missing 98% hit chance four times in a row and get critical miss at fifth attempt just shows system itself is some kind of parody of randomness. statistically such rolls are nearly impossible to happen, yet they happen all over the game.
