I don't understand Aasimars
I thought they were just the divine version of Teiflings. A few nifty tricks but roughly balanced compared to other races. So why is Aylin so overpowered?

Granted most of my Aasimar experience comes from Pathfinder so is it just that Pathfinder Aasimar are basic and Faerun Aasimar are godmode?

Aylin is the actual daughter of a goddess. Aasimars in Pathfinder are more... diluted than that. That's why Aylin is so strong while the Pathfinder ones just have halos.

If you follow the story, it should be easy to understand why she got abilities.

Anyway shes not overpowered. That word doesnt make any sense. Sorry.

Aylin is a very unique case. The vast majority of aasimar are mortals with a bit of celestial blood in there.

From what i've read being Teiflings and Aasimar are still normal Teiflings and Aasima even when they come "direct from the source".

But I'm not pretending to be some lore master here which is why i'm asking.

And since she's immortal in the full rather than merely ageless sense, spontaneously spouts wings, and can be used the way she was used...yeah. Kinda OP.

I guess that's just what I thought they were even when they were directly descended from their celestial or infernal parent.

She is once called an aasimar, but she is really a deva when you see her looks and what she does. There is not a single aasimar in the game, but lots of tieflings, go figure.

It's different for someone descended from a god. Aasimars are what old editions called Half-Angel. They are the product of angelic celestials, the MINIONS of gods.

Aylin is a half-god, or what is known as a Demigod. Hercules from old Greek mythology was also a demigod. Same with other children of Zeus. They have immense powers afforded by their divine blood. Even in D&D, a god would likely impart more of their power and blessings to a favorite child, as Bhaal does with his Bhaalspawn.

Well i guess that's what's throwing me a bit, because even Bhaalspawn ain't as powerful as she is.

None of the Bhaalspawn were truly immmortal. They all seemed to age normally for whatever their mortal race was. If you stabbed them enough they stayed dead.

Then you got Aylin who doesn't age and can be endlessly murdered over and over unless you use a god-tier artifact weapon on her, and has flying wings.

And who knows what else she's got up her sleeves. Something to rival or even surpass the Slayer transformation? Wouldn't surprise me at this point.

The way i remember it the Bhaalspawn (Including Dark urge) can't really do anything their class can't do except the Slayer transformation and even that was something only a very rare few of them could do.

It seems not all Demigods are created equal in Faerun.
