The patron does react in Act 2 when you encounter the Githyanki queen Vlaakith.
I'm planning a GOO lock run embracing my tadpole to see what happens.
A little disappointing.
I noticed this as well, switching between so many classes and characters as I have. So far, at least, my bard run has been the most amusing, and my time as the Dark Urge has provided some spice.
I chose the Old One because I thought it would be neat to have an Eldritch type in my head as the Dark Urge, and yet alas if they never speak to me...
Same thing happens if you're a cleric to be fair. In fact if I remember Jaheira accuses you of lying about being a Cleric when you try because she believes you to be a slave to the Absolute.
