Discussion Hot Take: Lae'zel and Dark Urge Tav are the canon pairing

No other pairing is as integral to the plot of the entire story, as the dark urge is deeply involved in the circumstances leading up to the events of Baldur's gate 3 and Lae'zel's presence and influence has the potential to radically change both the ending and how things play out in the aftermath from a story perspective.

there are two ways to play dark urge, good and evil, and both are masterpieces as narrative goes.

there are two ways to play dark urge, good and evil, and both are masterpieces as narrative goes.

Definitely^^^, the first time I played the Dark Urge, I ran it as a super wholesome Tiefling Bard and romanced Karlach. I personally enjoyed it a great deal because it made the moments where the urge took over all the more jarring emotionally.

If I go evil Dark Urge, then Minthara, Astarion and evil Gale are the only passable companions that feels natural

I'm curious as to what made you favor Gale over Lae'zel? in my experience from my playthrough, Lae'zel approved of my actions far more often than Gale ever did

Because Gale ends up being a lot more power hungry than Laezel . Laezel you can make her delusional by telling her to side with vlakith but over all she isn’t evil or power hungry .

But if you tell Gale to go against Mystra, he becomes power hungry , defies her in her face and even if you try to correct him later, he doesn’t listen to you and tells you he will reforge the crown and become a God.

All that without him being delusional and done out of his own ambitions .

Laezel just want her people free from Vlakith but she is alot like Shadowheart where once she sees the truth she would make the right decisions and defy her goddess even if that makes her traitor .

So Gale just feels better fit thematically in an evil team

That makes a fair bit of sense actually. I haven't done a play through with Gale in my party for most if it yet, so It looks like I've missed out on a fair bit, thanks for the info :)

Yea he definitely is one of the best picks in evil team, the pivotal moment is when he goes to Mystra and asks you for advice what to tell her. You need to advice him to tell he how we will soon be having the crown and she can’t do anything about it, at which point he is set in stone to an evil path .
