Something is missing
I played Baldurs Gate for more than 90 hours, so I obviously enjoyed it. I think some of the character design is absolutely gorgeous, the same goes for many of the quests. The fights are highly entertaining, and you can adopt a dog and an owlbear. That's great.

But at the same time I am a bit stunned that there is very little criticism apart from the romance mechanics.
1. One thing that set BG2 apart for me was that it felt huge. When you left Irenicus dungeon you suddenly found yourself in this huge city with this crazy amount of locations and characters. But also outside Baldurs Gate traveling over the world map gave the impression of a huge "world". I think BG2 did a better job of creating a world for you while in BG3 you feel like a mouse that is moving from one shoebox to the next one. Every act so far feels a bit like a prison, a nice prison though.
2. In act 1 I basically exterminated all the enemies pretty early but still had to travel around quite a lot. What can I say, it was running through a tomb. Enemies don't respawn. They did in BG2 and I think it was important to make the world feel more alive.
3. Having to return to camp lust every night got a bit annoying after a while but there is already enough discussion about that and let's just say it's a bit extreme. But whatever, I am just saying I enjoyed how in BG2 or also in my favorite game Hades relationships were built over time and felt more meaningful.
4. It's not a great time for inventory management: first Diablo 4, now BG3. The inventory management in BG3 is tedious.
5. The camera can be your biggest enemy: in act 1 in the goblin stronghold I fought enemies on three different height levels and I reloaded because the camera was not built for this. I couldn't target some enemies because the camera wouldn't allow me to. I faced similar problems though not that bad later in the game, but the camera is not great.
6. Bug: I encountered quite a few - most were not game breaking but it was annoying. Portriats would turn black, rounds would not end, those kind of things. Not too bad but it was ... annoying.

I am not here to take away your fun or judge you for having sex with a bear, but I see a very good game, not a masterpiece. So get out your pitchforks and torches :)
