I didn't evolve a single Illithid power with him so maybe that's it. I finished his questline by freeing the vampire spawn and helping him become his own person. Not sure what the trigger was for his happy ending, but I got it.
I lost Astarion, too. Late in the game.
That was quite a hit. It made the game tougher to finish because I had to hire my third hireling. And I had fed Astarion all of the tadpoles, so he was quite powerful.
I knew that I'd eventually lose him, though, because I wanted all of the tads and Flayers killed. Once I started feeding him tadpoles I knew that his days were numbered.
It just made combat suck.
I'd never do that again. Feed a companion tadpoles. You don't even need them.
i did that too. i got the scene where hes at the graveyard but nothing after that. and then just a horrible lifeless ending. i think it must be a bug :(
He is meant to ascend into a master vampire so if you want him to have a good ending yea you should have let him take cazadors place
EXACTLY! It's like we got to say farewell to all the other characters but not astarion. the f?
Because like Karlach most of Astorians late game ending gameplay was removed due to them completely removing the upper city, there was supposed to be alot more to his ending than what we got. Hell if you look you can find videos of Sven talking about the upper city roughly a week before launch, yet never mentions any content being cut,
Larian cut out an insane amount of content just so the could release BG3 before Starfield,
Yeah Larian showed they are exactly the same as all the other devs in the end.
I had some odd outcomes with this - I was reloading a fair bit to try out various Final Rooms decisions and what not, and I think it was after the Gale Does As Instructed one where Astarion was permanently Sun-proof.. but also had an ending after the same Event where he started burning.. I couldn't replicate the immunity thing again. Maybe found the right combo of chats...
Off top of my head, I talked him out of ascending, did give one or two powers (but not the partial-change), and pretty solid approval altho not relationship.
(particularly funny was Gale showing up in at least one of those 2 scenes.. But then my run was very strange over all.
Jaheira for eg. She joined party as a full companion, but went instantly to hated and departed after Moonrise boss died - Allies quest updated to say she'd gone and taken harpers with.. but then she was in camp for rest of the game,
I was able to complete her personal questline but could never have her in the party, despite all the dialogue choices for it present and selectable.)
Oh calm your purr, little pet. If I wanted to do the wrong thing, I would of. But look, you've done it for me. How sweet of you to want to be a bidding toy to a little lord, newly crowned with no idea what to do with his power. Like all unhealed tyrants who run away from their past -weak for anything to fill that dangerously empty void inside- he will get dethroned by someone bigger and better than him.
And you'll be first in line to suffer the consequences. So precious of you. Good little disposable pet.
