Ending is extremely bad
Apologies Larian, but I need to rant. After 313 hours of playing this game (including Early Access), I have just reached the end of my 1st full play through. I warn you - my blood is still boiling.

This was so f*cking sad and disappointing.

To anyone reading this early in Act 3 - I strongly recommend waiting till Larian will patch the end game. Do not waste a nice experience with this game.

SPOILERS BELOW

Game was 10/10 for me for like 95% of my play through. But once I reached the ending, I feel like I was slapped in the face. This game has finished for me after reaching the Elder Brain. What happened after that is just unfinished product, that I just want to forgot and erease from my head.
No closure. No narrative end to your companions stories. My actions throughout the game meant nothing, my choices had no value (only the most recent ones).
Nothing I did in Act 1, 2 and 3 had any meaning. I would see the same end results, playing as an Evil Dark Urge as well as a Righteous Paladin, but picking the correct options at the end of the game.

Companions not initiating any end dialogue due to bugs e.g.:
-if Karlah survives -> you won't see Shadowheart cutscene in camp
-if spoken with Gale, Astarion will run away like a b*tch after sunburn, and you won't receive a 1-1 dialogue option EVEN if you romanced him to the fullest (I'm not a fan of Astarion, I hate this companion, but I can't imagine what kind of heartbreaking moment this would be for people actually romancing him, that was pathetic ending)
-and many more

Larian did not even add a simple wall of text / couple sentences on what happened to the:
-Druid Grove,
-Shadowlands,
-Baldurs Gate itself,
-Emperor,
-Githianki / Vlaakith / Orpheus (I know D&D/forgotten realms cannon events related to this story, but would be nice to see it in the game as well)
-my companions,
-me and my partner Shadowheart.

If Larian is not planning to launch an BG3 expansion and cover above subjects, then I see no point of not adding a closure to those events (especially Githhianki vs Vlaakith, which canonically has a closure in Forgotten Realms world)

The OG BG 1 & 2 games had at least text endings to you and your companions. Here we got absolutely nothing.
I do not understand WHY at least written text was not implemented to the end game! They had tools and capacity to add f*cktons of text to end credit, but they did not add a text about the result of our (player) play through.

All I have received was 'gg wp u saved the world, cya' and roll credits.

Ending was rushed. Cut content burn my eyes.

I'm so frustrated with this ending.
I feel like a kid, that received a cat, become best friends, had a great time together, just to realize this cat has animal rabies and needs to be taken down.

I love this game, but at this moment it is not 10/10.
It's 9/10 at best, due to miserable short and hollow ending, "felt" cut content and lack of 4th difficulty option (game was way too easy on Tactician mode, while it was advertised as a DnD difficulty run by DM that hates you).

I hope the more people finish this game, the more people will realize it as well, and maybe then Larian will actually reconsider adding cut content to the game with their patch.
I'm not even dreaming about adding Upper City to the game, but at least missing parts of endings. Hopefully it will receive the same treatment as DOS2 with Definitive edition.
At the moment, they are occupied with simple bug fixes and releasing the game on PS5. But the more people finish the game, the more 'bad' reviews will pop up on the internet.

Before reaching the Elder Brain, I wanted to do my 2nd play through immediately.
After seeing this hollow and empty ending, I just won't do it. I don't want to suffer experiencing this again.

Please Larian, hear us.

i thought there was 17k possible endings in the game?
I agree, this was major letdown in the end. I was expecting something like Pathfinder did, written page or two concluding every major characters story (where all the choices made in game are reflected, for everybody, friend or foe).

In BG3, you get somewhat short animation (which from what I understand is almost the same regardless of the choices you make through the campaign), few lines from all companions (that do not really say anything) and Withers his few lines about TD3 (actually best part of what we got). That's it...

Similarly, game doesn't even reflect those, more ephemeral, choices. My character did not use Tadpole in conversations (only thing I got was this arcane 30 check reward from creche, mostly because I thought it will tell me some interesting piece of story (and I rolled 20 first time), not that it gives me some power I will never use (and which sounds ridiculously OP). Nothing of this is reflected in the ending...

I hope they'll address this in Definitive Edition, as well as other weird things in story (like situation in the Artifact. Tentacle dude just leaves, doesn't even wait for prince (or me) to say anything (why exactly does he needs to eat princes brain and even if so, why didn't he do it before the game starts, which would made more sense (i.e. so he could provide the protection)) ... which is completely bizarre, because it would seem that everybody has the same goal (stop the brain) and thus enemy of my enemy... and yet, one tentacle dude is required to end the game (I wish there was some tentacle dude that wants to stop the brain as well, so we could ask him ... oh wait).

Another person who thought they were gonna get a novel length compendium ending detailing every decision they ever made rounded off with epilogues for every character.

Ending was alright tbf not the best defo could have had a little more but things were rounded off for various party members and there are some choices you can make at the end but I think the way the ending is done it's not an ending more like a beginning of new adventures for everybody hence the way things are capped off for everyone.
People are incredibly stupid. You can enjoy the game and still criticize its ending rightfully, as it's unfinished and doesn't provide us with any closure about what happened afterward. It's a joke, really. From what I've seen, it's either fanboys slurping Larian's meat rod, or people taking an extreme stance and declaring the game as trash. It's a shame that there aren't any balanced opinions.

No, not novel length, what PF: WotR did would be enough for me, but we didn't even got that.

That was before the last minute content cut.

What do you mean?

You want the full spoilers, buddy? OK listen.

Mintharas story is unfinished and buggy.
The moment you are with Balthazaar and the Nightsong, no option you chose here will matter for Kehtric Thorn, you can even bring him his daughter back. You WILL fight him, no matter any decision you took, its ultimate. Cant side with the absolute, temporarily or permanently. So once you reach act 3 your previous choices will barely matter, same goes for tadpole consumption, i did full tadpole and a full abstinence run. Guess wat? It do not matter at all.

The evil playthrough is criminally unfinished as of now, as your choices matter little.

You cant` be freinds with mighty Kehtric Thorn.
Lore wise not possible.

''L'Azael flew away, Gale disappeared, Karlach died, Astarion ran away with sunburn. Amazing. ''

It seems that you did not finish there quests.

That's not it, I had the same and I did finish all quests (except Investigate fireworks shop) and it was exactly that. Astarion is prime example: he says like 2 or 3 lines and runs away with sunburn ... so did he go back to Underdark? Did he stay in BG? Also why did it take ages for the sun to affect him (as there seems to be quite long time between tadpoles being gone and the scene on piers).

it would be great.
Act 3 sadly feels like a new Early Access. Plain and simple.

I like happy endings, i also like sad or bittersweet endings.

But what we got here ? How dare you call that endings ? Act 1/2 had more closure than anything we got in Act 3.

Act 3 is litteraly : oh you pick option 1/2/3 at the end ? Well gg ! Game is done, bye bye !

And let's not even talk about bugs : Oh hi Gale ! Didn't you just blew yourself up with the elder brain ?

Feels almost like Mass Effect 3, same slap in the face.

I'm glad that not only me feels this way about ending. Till ACT III finale, I was just mesmerized by the quality of BG 3. After credits I was dumbstruck, WTF I just experienced?! I started watching YT to see if I made some grave errors doing quests to get something like this but no, not at all. No narrative ending just some cut scenes and that's it. My choices through the game didn't matter at all. I concentrated my whole experience on not using any tadpoles powers at all and not adding more bugs into my brain, thinking that it is significant decision for my character. Guess what I was just sabotaging my character because it doesn't matter at all! Please put all bugs you want into your brain because it has 0 consequences. Also game has big performance issues, independent of hardware and game options configuration.

Stop being a fanboy. Just stop.

Guy is upset because he didn't got the ending he envisioned, lol. This is a DnD game, harsh and ruthless, happy ending rarely happens.

If you don't like bad/sad endings, don't play RPGs. Play FIFA
