Save Varna question act 3

I don't get it I keep taking down Ethel with non-lethal attacks and she spits up the child and then dies, there's no chance to save varna she's immediately dead upon the moment she gets spit out.

you need a specific potion that you can get from the hag survivors prior to the battle. Ethel even tells you that if you kill her, the child will die too.

Non-lethal attacks rarely matter in this game. Usually a non-lethal kill will still cause the character to be considered as killed.

I think somewhere in the hag survivors house there's a safe with a potion in it. You need to throw it at Ethel in the fight to make her spew up the child, then you can kill her normally.

Make the anti-hag potion and just toss it at her during the battle. Make sure the potion's damage does NOT kill her or she will just die along with the child. So toss it at her during the battle she wil ltake some damage from the potion and she will then vomit the child alive.

interesting, I tried it two ways... one with the potion and one with non-lethal where you cut her out, Varna survived both ways for me. Though... all we all going to ignore that Varna is too old to be used to create a hag child? I could swear they need to be like 2 or 3.

Every time I hit her with non-lethal she spits up the child, but once I kill her the child but she's dead the moment she spit out

They fixed the bug where the child is dead either way, but now Vanra just runs off and disappears permanently, and she's excempt from the turn based combat, so I obviously cant follow her (especially since Ethel is still alive at that point). Has anyone figured out what to do so Vanra doesn't just vanish? (after killing Ethel i searched the area, then went to where you first meet Lora, then went to Loras house. Talking to Lora won't move the quest forward since I first have to talk to Vanra.)

I tried talking to the mother, but the quest doesn't move forward; I still only have the option to tell the mum I'll do my best to find Vanra.

It is possible to get this quest working, as it did for me. I encountered the mother and her quest before going to Ethel's act 3 hideout. Then after using Hag's bane during the battle, I went back to the mother. Quest completed.
