When does Volo become a merchant in my camp?

Pretty much the title he has a merchant icon on him but keeps wanting to stab my eye out..

I think after you save him in Act 3

icon at the botom left, he doesnt have the normal merchant dialogue

He's always a merchant, he just doesn't have a dialogue option to open the interface for whatever reason. You have to use the trade button in the corner of the screen while talking to him to trade.

He doesn't have much of note, don't worry.

I waited a long time and my thread went off the page.. It was mostly to bump the thread. I also used to play Slaanesh.

Volo is the most useless character in the game. Yea, you can trade with him in camp until you finally decide to try out the procedure or reach Baldur's Gate. Then he just becomes a prop, can't even trade with him.

I see in early access he had good loot to trade.

Not relevant to trading but take his offer of stabbing the eye. Make save before doing so just in case you wouldn't like the outcome but I think you wouldn't regret it :)

I understand the eye i've tested it but it really looks bad on my character with dark eyes its bright white.

Ok well i tested and i could not trade with Volo the trading option is greyed out, so i got my eye stabbed instead.. Looks weird but the buff is handy.
