Letter to Ketheric
There's a letter under the floorboards in Ketherics room that you can read if you sneak into his room in Moonrise Towers. The letter explains basically the whole plot, it's a HUGE info dump with massive implications. talks about gortash, the absolute, the dead 3, etc.As of yet it's the biggest piece of exposition the party has yet to encounter and nobody reacts to it. No dialogue, no reaction, no journal entry, nothing. It's as though I read any random book that has nothing to do with the plot and I can only assume my party will be acting completely shocked when I encounter all of these things that we already know. I was also surprised how little anybody reacts when you meet and see the absolute and they pull you into the oubliette I swear there are act 1 sidequests that have 10 times more party interaction and feedback than either of these two huge moments that feel oddly rushed in.

There's a persuasion check that appears if you do read his stuff, at least. You can skip the 2nd phase of his boss fight.

Oh okay so it does come up later. It's still weird how many huge plot events happen in Act 2 with the party being barely reactive to it. I definitely think about halfway through is when the game started getting rushed. Given what I expected from Act 1 I would have thought there would be multiple long companion dialogues, camp cutscenes, etc. about a lot of this stuff. it's just crazy that meeting the absolute and getting sucked into the mindflayer colony is treated like you just did a fetch quest or something.
bump curious if anyone else was thrown off by the pace of act 2

Yeah I asked about this in the forum when I found it because I couldn't find anything to do with it.

Even the old russian lady who specifically asks me "DID YOU FIND ANY INFORMATION!" doesn't prove me with an option to tell her about the letters and the other things I found.

I kinda liked it, Dame Aylin and Gauntlet of Shar is such a boon for Act 2

sorry dude, but it never comes up. Only use i found for such documents is, from act 1 you can show letters to Baldur's Gate carriers to inform their postman is dead and confront dog handler outside for treating dogs bad.

Act 2 feels like it's on the cusp of being really great but the details start to drop off compared to act 1 about halfway through. I'd say after you reach the last light inn and finish the creche there's a noticeable drop off in terms of how much your companions react to what's going on, scenes back at camp discussing the events of the story, overworld dialogue (when they say stuff while exploring without opening a dialogue menu), etc. Not that it's completely barren, there's still a lot of good stuff with the companions in Act 2 but something feels really off compared to the beginning. It's just not filled in quite so much.

I think they literally gave up content in Act 2 to balance it. I was expecting something about Thorm's wife making an appearance to stop him and turn him back to Selune at some point. Like a side quest for us to meddle with bringing back her spirit to reason with Thorm and Myrkul getting angry at us for snatching his pawn, resulting Thorm sacrificing himself to save Isobel and Aylin and us.

There is lot of build up in Act 2 with lore items and locations but none of those pay off. This is why i said Gaunlet of Shar, Aylin and Shadowheat decision was a boon for that act

I thought it was odd too.
But then also I figured that I'm using meta-knowledge.
This is an unprecedented series of events, why would Laezel let alone anyone else be able to conceive the repercussions of all of this immediately?
