Bug? Player level 8, multiclass. did not get a second feat?
I made a level 5 warlock and followed up with 3 levels of sorcerer. I got the first feat at level 4, and expected the second one at level 8, but it seems it is determined by class level rather than character level, is this a bug?

Working as designed. Absolutely not a bug.

That's how it supposed to be. You get it with class level, not character level

then they deviated from the pen and paper rules regarding feats.

This is how it works in 5e, they are tied to class level..

You're absolutely wrong about that, too. It's one of the things they *didn't* change.

In fact, BG3 is *more* generous about multiclassing in genereal, between ignoring minimum stat requirements, letting Extra Attack stack.

my bad then, I hadn't done multiclassing in 5e yet. I just looked in my book and it is vague at best regarding when you gain feats.

You get a feat after 4 levels in the same class, if you multiclass and want to keep feats you need to keep it with 4 levels.

The only exception to this is fighters who get an extra feat at level 6 fighter so a full level 12 fighter gets 4 feats instead of 3.

Yup, multi-classing can cause you to have less feats than a single class character. If you want the normal number of feats at level 12 you'd have to make a level 8 warlock + level 4 sorcerer for example.

Two exceptions. Rogues also get an extra feat/ASI at 10.

The game doesn't go that far, but fighters would get an extra feat/ASI at 14 if it did.

It’s the stupid way WotC tied feats to class levels instead of the more sensible character level.

You'll get a feat with 4 levels of sorc.. or 8 of warlock.
