[Question] Do Monks need Wisdom?
Hello everyone :)

I have a question about Monks.

It seems they need both Desterity and Wisdom :
https://baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com/Monk

I understand Dexterity is used to melee attack.
But what's the use of Wisdom?
They don't have spells, so I don't understand what's the point.
What's the difference between 8 Wisdom and 20, for a monk?

Thanks for your help :)

Unamored Defense
Monk: Your reflexes are as effective as any armour. While not wearing armour, you add your Wisdom Modifier to your Armour Class.

Focusing on having high AC is very important in DnD, especially for characters in the thick of things. So you could have 16Wisdom 16DEX to start, that's 16AC for nothing. Once you get DEX to 20 that's 18AC with no gear

Boosts your ac too if not wearing armour

if they don't wear armor, they receive both DEX + WIS bonus on their armor class (AC).

WIS doesn't affect DCs in BG3

Wis 8 vs. Wis 20 is also a 6 point difference on Wisdom saves. Failing a Wisdom save might mean being paralyzed, or mind-controlled into attacking the rest of the party, or other effects like that.

I am still trying to figure out how my stunned strike dc is being calculated… at 16 wisdom my save dice is 16, but then at lvl 12 I still have 16 wisdom and now my save dice is 20…

Not sure at all how do I max my stun chance and if wisdom affects it at all lol
Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Yes it does.

Clerics, Rangers and Druids use wisdom for the save DCs of their spells.

Everyone uses it to make saves against enemy spells.

It's pretty clearly implied that they were talking about monk DCs for monk abilities.
Could impact 4 seasons monk spells, no clue. Never played that subclass.
Definitely affects the damage open palm monk does tho.

Ah.

Hmm....may be the case.

We know stunning strike has a con save. It is based on wisdom. Ki save is 8+proficiency bonus+wisdom modifier

Last I played monk, stunning strike was not wis dependent.
If you download the Bladesinger mod and the mod that lets you adjust stats, you can get an Unarmored AC of 25 as a Monk/Bladesinger, AND you get to run around naked doing it!
