MAGE ARMOR DESIGN
Hi everyone!
I'm just coming around to collect some of your feeling about the mage armor design especially toward the fact humans/hald-elfs wizards can wear armors and shields.

What we have here is if you wear an armor you cannot cast MAGE ARMOR on yourself or on someone which wear an armor (this includes some helmet, gloves, boots).
If you remove those armors (+ helmets, gloves, etc.) you will be able to cast it now.
When MAGE ARMOR has been casted and you equipe again an armor (or gloves, helmets, etc.) you lose the spell.

I don't, personally like the design of this. If it was me MAGE ARMOR will just be put into background or something like that. Like you have a light armor, (11 AC) yes? I cast MAGE ARMOR on you so you goes from 11 to 13. Like if MAGE ARMOR is stronger than we keep MAGE ARMOR otherwise we keep the armor that you are using.
Your dexterity would still be limited by your actual armor that you are wearing.

You touch a willing creature who isn't wearing armor, and a protective magical force surrounds it until the spell ends. The target's base AC becomes 13 + its Dexterity modifier. The spell ends if the target dons armor or if you dismiss the spell as an action.

That's just how it works in DND.

It was used in TES: Morrowind, The mage armor would be a physical piece of armor. You also had to summon each piece of armor. shield, boots, chest and etc.

Mage Armor is so you can use enchanted robes and still have a slightly better version of studded leather armour in AC

Yes and i like that. It is not what i'm criticizing.
My problem is more like, you have your MAGE ARMOR and you just find a pair of gloves. It's nice so you tried them. Damned the pair of gloves is light armor type and you didn't see it because you were clumsy or whatever.
Well the spell is now lost and you need to cast it again.
