Grease can solve puzzles
If you are getting stuck on certain objects that need a strength skill check to rotate/use, and it mentions the mechanism getting stuck or something, throw grease at it.

Was surprised it worked, but also felt very big brain.

pretty sure the game even mentions this quite early on

Duct tape or WD-40 solve about 99% of problems in real life, too.

true.
if you cant fix it you're not using enough
I mean the devs even left a note relatively nearby saying to not grease the statues...;P

I havent read the notes and had the thought, instantly. I used a bottle of oil to get the job done.

Whats the saying?
If it is stuck and shouldn't be, use WD40
If it is not stuck and should be, use duct tape

Does this work for more than the one puzzle in act 1?

I assume this works on any athletic skill check on levers, wheels, etc. specifically probably works on the cable car thing outside the monastery too I would guess.

And the statues past the Crèche inquisitor.

Suppose they did it that way so any grease could be used like the spell.

Chandeliers as well can be shot down. Lot of environmental's that are easily missed without experimenting.

The one time I tried this(because of the loading screen tooltip) it would flip the switch but the door didn't open it was the prison doors in the iron throne.

forgot to add in 550 cord. Ex military folks will get the reference. 100mph tape(duct tape), 550 cord, and CLP makes everything work.

Yep, there's a puzzle for uncovering a wonderous weapon in act 2 that can be solved using this method I have seen people post about.
I didn't have grease when I ended up failing all strength checks and managed to get that puzzle solved by just having Karlarch hit it hard with her weapon which obviously vibrated the mechanisms enough to dislodge it so it's not just grease that can help.
