If you don't read, then it's not the game's fault.
If you have zero experience with Larian's games, that doesn't help, either.
Their previous two games work the same way.
You should always have your main camp chest.
It actually did follow me around. I kept the bodies of minthara etc in a normal wooden chest, and for many other camps in Act 1 and 2, that chest got automatically added INTO the traveller's chest. At some point I must have taken the chest out and kept it on the ground at a Act 1/2 camp, assuming it would automatically follow me around like it did in Act 1, but it didnt.
I store stuff in pouches, backpacks, chests, and keep those in my traveller chest for organization.
The good news is that in Act 3 there is plenty of stuff to pick pocket. If you have Astarion as a thief with some sleight of hand items he can get to +16 sleight of hand and you can rob several merchants blind with little to no risk. If you include guidance, enhance ability, and bardic inspiration you can easily steal 10k+ raw gold per long rest just pick pocketing vendors with almost no chance to get caught. You can also steal some scrolls for lvl 6 spells that will make fights much easier and easily make up for lost items. For example I stole 3 scrolls of disintegrate that had a DC of 13 before including bardic inspiration, guidance, and enhance ability.
EDIT: I think there should be an auto save right before entering act 3 unless you went around and did a bunch of other stuff.
I'm not sure why you assume the box will follow you. The assumption is that the party will take the box with them because y'know that makes sense. How did you come up with terrible assumption?
Some campsites throughout the game have tons of boxes, barrels, rotten baskets, and what not. You assume they will carry all that crap around from camp site to camp site? The Travellers chest is assigned for safe storage, as it will travel with you regardless of what camp site you end up in. That rotten basket down by the docks, next to the barrel of fish. wont... regardless of how much stuff you put into it.. see?
Lol yes I am a real sick ♥♥♥♥. Was gonna do things to her later on. Dark Urge role play ya know.
I put her underwear on gale, for well.. reasons... I left her dead body on the ground though.. -)
it appeared in stash out of nowhere. weird that it doesnt do it with everything.
I agree.
The boxes they use, or the boxes you use? -)
Yeah I have plenty of saves I could go back to but don't want to re-play like 5-8 hours of gameplay. And I know if I really wanted to I could just use the cheat engine item spawner to get any equipment I lost from Act 1/2, so the lost equipment isn't a big deal for me.
The only thing of importance I lost is the dead bodies that I can't get back, sadly.
Just annoyed the game doesn't tell you explicitly that stuff you keep in other camp chests won't be accessible later on (it makes this confusing because some of those chests automatically get added to your travellers chest, making you think that any chest you stored stuff in will come along with you).
I don't know why you're being a ♥♥♥♥ about it when the party clearly does carry some things with them. It's not like there's anything special about the traveler's chest. The traveler's chest itself is already a gameplay convenience so it's not some huge leap of logic to assume the game would match up other containers to containers that exist in other versions of the camp. It's not a mistake I made, but I don't see the point in chastising OP for trying to have fun with the camp.
