looking for a particuler build

ok here me out, I want a play style that is a drain tank. That is to say I want to be able to absorb insane amounts of damage while passively dealing damage. Is this possible?

Arcane spellcasters get vampiric touch. Some [REDACTED] powers you unlock can do some thematically similar things.

Astarion literally can get a bonus action vampire bite, but it just buffs stats, no actual health draining.

Theoretically, an undead character with AoE negative damage could be hurting living things around them while healing in the process, but I'm not sure if BG3 actually has any of those options.

Aside from Vampiric touch, I can't think of a lot of effects that specifically damage an enemy and heal you in response.

There's a vampiric touch spell which absorbs health.
Fiend Warlocks gain HP when they kill an enemy.
Warlocks can learn Vampiric Touch.

However Warlocks do not have good armour. You would have to multiclass.

Level 10 Abjuration Wizard is nearly invincible with Arcane Ward
Armor of Agathys is amazing temp health and retaliation damage when upcasted to max level. It's also an Abjuration spell that makes Arcane Ward stronger.

How to get Armor of Agathys on a Wizard?

Feat: Magic Initiate Warlock
1 level dip in Warlock
1 level dip in Draconic Sorceror (White Dragon Lineage)

Then combine a 1 level dip in Light Cleric for Heavy Armor, Shields, and Warding Bond.

All of these things combined = 0 damage taken, 25 Ice damage retaliated per hit

Wildheart barbarians can get bear heart to heal once per rage.

It's not really that good to be honest. Wolf heart is a lot better.

Warlocks can get buffs to their armor. Blade pact warlocks get temp HP from killing things with their melee weapon.

You're probably looking at some kind of warlock, honestly.

There is a helmet that deals damage on an enemy miss (dex saving throw) My Paladin ended up using that along with stacking radiating orbs (each orb is -1 to attacks) mobs tended to get destroyed trying to take him on.

Pick armor of agathys
Have cleric in party that warding bonds the wizard
Cast armor of agathys with your highest level spell slot

Congrats, you achieved drain tank.
