I just started act 3 and have lost the desire to continue...
Let me explain, because I think it's a Larian thing that also happened with DOS1/2. What happens is that I MUST loot every container, find all secrets, do every quest possible, sell everything for income to buy fun stuff, steal everything not bolted down or glued to someone's pockets. Organizing my bags/chest/loot.

I do that through the first 1/3 of the game. Then in Act 2 I do the same, but it starts to wear thin. Now in Act 3 I just feel like bee-lining through all the silly side quests that matter little in the grand scheme, to try to get to the end. I'm burned out on looking in every building and talking to everyone.

But for some reason, NOT doing all that also hurts my soul, lol. So I just stop playing. Not even sure I want to do another playthrough anytime soon with new class combos.

Someone, please help me, haha. Am I alone in this condition? I don't know why this happens to me in Larian games specifically. It's like there are TOO many things to loot, too many people to speak to and get side quests, etc. But at the same time, avoiding all of it feels repulsive too.

*le sigh*

play with a friend or 2, it massively helps reduce what u have to do alone - I also must loot and explore everything! Alone I would probably have felt the same as you!

The worst part about CH3 is, that the level cap is only 12. That means, you play for the story / loot and can't get any stronger after 12 with levels. That's demotivating. I did not even do a lot of quests because of it, because i had all the gear i wanted.

There are a bunch of people who have that fear of missing out. That even contributes to the replayability of the game, knowing stuff like you can have Alfira join you.

Based on experience there is absolutely nothing which you can do aside from using the opportunity to calm yourself down with such. At some point you get lucky, then it is like in Diablo and you stop picking everything.

I am kinda lucky since I cannot get bored or burn out by that. I enjoy the time searching around and relax while doing so - often listening to a podcast while sorting items. :spacehamster:

Give it time, Larian usually restores missing content and fixes bugs. It will get better.
I handle it by looting 1 or 2 things if they are empty I pass, most notable loot is in notable containers like chests they are not hiding a lot of the best stuff in random creates.

K thx for sharing

also, although act 3 is kinda big and might feel like a slog if u are searching everything, it has some of the best quests and set pieces of the game for sure. Just take your time and enjoy the stories :)

Had the same issue in OS and OS2.
Made sure to actively avoid some content and not care about looting everything by telling myself that I'm saving some exciting stuff to find with later playthroughs.
Now I'm scared I might just not look into the same containers in all my playthroughs and completely miss something lmao

Though, not having lucky finds really made it easier to ignore containers, that was the major reason I felt like opening everything in the original sins.

This happens to me with these types of games. I start out reading every note and book, looting everything, doing all the side quests, but as time goes on I do those things less and less. The hard part with this game is that Act 3 is really big also, once you get inside the actual city, it opens up even more with a big town and not sure where to go first.

I used a few other google searches to see what order I should hit up things, which helped. I would suggest, look at a sidequest marker on your map, and just focus on doing that. When you complete that one, either call it a day and log off, or find another one and focus on just that.

Just take small chunks at a time and that helps for me. I do a few quests, then watch a tv show and do other things. Granted I am at 170 hours so far on my thorough first playthrough.

You can't have Alfira join you, that is a common misconception, it ties to the 'dark urge' background and only appears to be her joining you. Won't say more due to potential spoilers

No.

Everything that you said is what I experienced. I was burnt out by Act III.

That's where I stopped looting. I had 30,000 coin before I paid 20,000 to go after Raphael, so I started buying my food at the vendors. While health potions I always bought from vendors.

By Act III, I would only loot if I killed someone that looked important.

I then had to force myself to plow through Act III and finish this game because there was still a long way to go. I was curious if I could completely exterminate the Flayers from this world. It was the only thing keeping me going.

It's a very difficult game to want to finish.

You have to want it bad because at times, the suffering is intense.

Doesn't it take you out of the world if they're talking about smartphones and cars or w/e?

I have no issues with multitasking.

This is actually what I'll probably have to do. I stepped into Act 3, saw all the buildings/people and was like, "crap, looting everything is going to take forever". I mean, all those book and bottles add up! LOL.
