Though gotta be wary of resting too little as well. Karlach romance completely broke on me because I did not rest often enough to trigger her scenes, and that's not the only rest-tied piece of narrative. Had to reload and just sleep like 4 times in a row after finishing act 2.
Seriously just use everything at your disposal. there are many things that last until long rest, elixirs in particular - just pop those right after resting and have fun
Fun little thing you might not be aware of: you can throw your healing potions, and it actually turns them into a small AoE heal, as the splash will give everyone the full effect of the potion.
Don't forget short rests, very important.
If you're good for money, just buy food from vendors.
Late game, I did a lot of that. At the Blushing Mermaid I bought everything that he had.
The 40-food packsacks will be for sale.
And many other dishes that are worth over 5 food supply.
You only need 40 for one long sleep.
I decided to do a long rest and put all the food I had in the chest for the long rest and I had over 5700 supplies. I have enough supplies for over 140 days. XD
9 spells slots = 9 berries per druid at lvl 5, 8 companions? = 72 berries = 72 rations
rotate your crew before resting.
with "Druid: Circle of the Land" it might be even more with restoring spells
lvl 5 can recover 3x1lvl slot = 12 * 8 = 92 rations = 52 rations surplus with 8 druids, doing nothing else than casting berries :D
Erm.. well i guess it depends which act you're in, but checking tables for food, baskets for fish, apples etc.. or just buying out the entire stock of pubs and bars.. as well as looting every not empty bottle.. I have 600 supplies at the moment in Act 3.
There's also wild berries in bushes.. and druid berries.. and the bard song.
Step 2: steal the camp supplies off him
Step 3: rest, merchants refresh basic stock and gold inventory
Step 4: teleport around, steal more gold and supplies
Step 5: ....profit?
And yeah, you ARE doing something horribly wrong, or just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trolling.
There are set number of fights in the game, I can even count them. Even if you rest after each and every fight, game drops more food then there are fights.
edit - also, if you are running a custom party party of 4 or whatever and have no thief, astarion left you, etc etc, whatever excuse - go to withers, respec one dude into a thief, and go get yourself some food, then go respec again. Because if you are this bad at the game, you have no business running a custom party with no thief. Rogues exist, you are given one as companion, game expects you to use theft as a mechanic. Go and use it.
I wonder if you're missing a lot of side areas? I remember finding quite a bit of food in them.
Also, make more use of stealing from vendors. Use Enhance Ability (Cat's Grace) + Guidance, steal scrolls and stuff and actually use them to reduce spells you spend in combat.
Another thing, make sure you're watching the amount used if you use autoselect for resting..sometimes it uses WAY too much. I've taken to just always manually selecting food items..you can almost always get it to exactly 40.
The issue is not having two wizards, the issue is not budgeting your spells and utilizing cantrips - also letting your non-magical characters do something. Like, you don't have to cast a fireball on every scared twig you see while you got the barb with an actual tree as a weapon standing right next to it.
