Camp supplies shortage
I must be doing something wrong, because I keep running out of camp supplies. Is this normal or am I missing something ?

I tend to pick up everything I find, food etc. that isn't rotten and send them to camp. I also buy supplies and supply packs from vendors but I'm still short sometimes for a full rest. Am I resting too often...? ^^

I got two wizards in the party so refilling spell slots is often needed. However I feel this shouldn't be a bottleneck and my progress shouldn't be gated on supplies... I wonder what everyone else is doing to avoid running out.

Just economic rests plus picking up everything not nailed down, and some of the nailed down stuff? I'm at the end of act 2 and have amassed almost 4500 supplies.

Though gotta be wary of resting too little as well. Karlach romance completely broke on me because I did not rest often enough to trigger her scenes, and that's not the only rest-tied piece of narrative. Had to reload and just sleep like 4 times in a row after finishing act 2.

How do you run out? You get supplies literally EVERYWHERE. Do you open every drawer and checking every barrel/box/body?

Sounds like you are resting way too often then. You shouldnt be blowing every single spell slot, every single battle.

sounds like you are indeed resting too often. use cantrips more often, dont blow all spell slots in a single encounter. Use potions. Use elixirs. Use scrolls. Use bombs.
Seriously just use everything at your disposal. there are many things that last until long rest, elixirs in particular - just pop those right after resting and have fun
Fun little thing you might not be aware of: you can throw your healing potions, and it actually turns them into a small AoE heal, as the splash will give everyone the full effect of the potion.
Don't forget short rests, very important.

How often are you resting? i found food is abundant in this game, you got Alcohol even. You must be resting way too often or not looting as much as you think you are.

Don't rest so often. You dont need to dump all your spells every fight. Cantrips work well in a pinch for finishing off targets close to death.

Try to use cantrips more often and save your spells for trickier encounters, (like harder enemies or bosses). If you are creative enough you can utilize shoving and height advantage. Also, make sure to have a melee tank of some sort in your party. You really shouldn't be blowing through all your spell slots for each encounter. I'm almost level 5 and only long rested 5 times so far.

If you loot everything you'll be fine.

If you're good for money, just buy food from vendors.

Late game, I did a lot of that. At the Blushing Mermaid I bought everything that he had.

The 40-food packsacks will be for sale.

And many other dishes that are worth over 5 food supply.

You only need 40 for one long sleep.

I'm in Act 3 and I probably have enough camp supplies to feed a good portion of the Baldur's Gate population, then again I've probably only rested around 20 times max and a good amount of those times were specifically to advance companion conversations or questlines.

I decided to do a long rest and put all the food I had in the chest for the long rest and I had over 5700 supplies. I have enough supplies for over 140 days. XD

spec everyone to druid and cast berries... lol after 1000 rests you might have some surplus

9 spells slots = 9 berries per druid at lvl 5, 8 companions? = 72 berries = 72 rations

rotate your crew before resting.

with "Druid: Circle of the Land" it might be even more with restoring spells

lvl 5 can recover 3x1lvl slot = 12 * 8 = 92 rations = 52 rations surplus with 8 druids, doing nothing else than casting berries :D

Erm.. well i guess it depends which act you're in, but checking tables for food, baskets for fish, apples etc.. or just buying out the entire stock of pubs and bars.. as well as looting every not empty bottle.. I have 600 supplies at the moment in Act 3.

There's also wild berries in bushes.. and druid berries.. and the bard song.

Step 1: find literally ANY merchant in the game
Step 2: steal the camp supplies off him
Step 3: rest, merchants refresh basic stock and gold inventory
Step 4: teleport around, steal more gold and supplies
Step 5: ....profit?

And yeah, you ARE doing something horribly wrong, or just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trolling.

There are set number of fights in the game, I can even count them. Even if you rest after each and every fight, game drops more food then there are fights.

edit - also, if you are running a custom party party of 4 or whatever and have no thief, astarion left you, etc etc, whatever excuse - go to withers, respec one dude into a thief, and go get yourself some food, then go respec again. Because if you are this bad at the game, you have no business running a custom party with no thief. Rogues exist, you are given one as companion, game expects you to use theft as a mechanic. Go and use it.

I did 4 casters on tactician with no prior knowledge and was *swimming* in supplies by partway through the first act. And I rested more than I needed to, to avoid getting caught without spells for a harder fight.

I wonder if you're missing a lot of side areas? I remember finding quite a bit of food in them.

Also, make more use of stealing from vendors. Use Enhance Ability (Cat's Grace) + Guidance, steal scrolls and stuff and actually use them to reduce spells you spend in combat.

also, don't forget about the action on your mages that can recall spells (i forget what it's called...its a blue action ..looks like a star or lamp) . say, if you use just one fireball, you can regain it with that without resting.

Another thing, make sure you're watching the amount used if you use autoselect for resting..sometimes it uses WAY too much. I've taken to just always manually selecting food items..you can almost always get it to exactly 40.

If you do a full rest after every fight, then yeah you might be running out of supplies.

The issue is not having two wizards, the issue is not budgeting your spells and utilizing cantrips - also letting your non-magical characters do something. Like, you don't have to cast a fireball on every scared twig you see while you got the barb with an actual tree as a weapon standing right next to it.
