You can of course grab as many as 4 mummies at level 11 if you want but its underwhelming imo. The most important thing is to have your cleric hireling (a benched one) cast Aid and Heroes Feast both at 6th level, This will give you something like 100 hp mummies and 60 hp skeletons. Download any of the AI mods to let the AI control your undead and now you dont have to micro manage, you just sit back while your unholy army swarms the field with 2 hefty dice of damage each. This isnt even the maximum power, this is the *standard* power. You can reinforce this with extra summons, items, and of course you still have your 4 heroes.
Oh, and motivational speech works on summons if you have that at lower levels.
Necromancer is so overpowered, my 6 ghouls from dance macabre killed orin by themselves. I didnt even get a turn. They just mauled her. Necromancer is probably the most powerful class because no other build is pumping out 40 dice of damage per turn minimum *permanently*, the other builds that get close are out of resources in a round or two or require melee. skeletons on the other hand, just range kill you while ghouls paralyze you to death.
Necro is insanely strong.
And if you want an even bigger power fantasy, theres mods to let you summon giant skeletons.
My sorcerer had this spell and my gawd the tables were turn. Taking down Raphael was so funny and epic. He was paralyzed through most of the fight lol.
Thought that was EXACTLY what a necromancer was? They're just wizards who get a focus in the necromancy school of spells. The class mechanics are basically a bit of draining, and a bit of necrotic damage focus, but most of it is just "wizard focused on necro spells"
