I will say the fact that everyone answer is to either kill him before getting to the nightsong or cheesing him in some way just proves my point though. The fight is insanely overtuned and needs fixed.
I agree so much of the game is great... but this fight is pure garbage.
Silence the mage(s), send in your barbarians, go bonk. GGEZ
Are you one of those people who think any form of strategy is "cheese"? I've found this to often be true with people who use the word.
Yeah, that's hilarious.
"The game is totally ez, skill issue if u disagree!"
"Ok, so how do I beat this encounter?"
"Use cheese and metagaming, duh!"
:P
...they never asked how to beat the fight. They just whined about it.
And it's probably more an issue of a random self-imposed restriction vs "skill", though skill may be an issue too.
Then you can silence the boss with eg. Cleric. He can't cast Cloudkill or any other powerful spells if he's prevented from casting.
I absolutely loved that fight, and I just now realize I screwed up so badly not using Turn Undead. Noob.
So what? Most answers were still like "position yourself during dialogue and shove him off the ledge" or "pile barrels around him." It was the same in DOS2 so this comes as no surprise.
