Balthazar fight is an abomination.

Game is great. Truly awesome so far.

But this fight is complete bs. way to many minions he just summons out of his ass. he does way to much damage. (lvl 8 party). Larian does great but they do a truly terrible job of tuning their games sometimes. Divinity was the same way. Why they don't give you the chance for overlevelling (I went through the underforge and went back through the mountain pass) to do anything is beyond me. They're should be half as many minios in this fight and he should do half the damage he does. Terrible fight.

Just kill him in the temple, when you first meet him. He's neutral so you can just walk up to him, surround him with your melee fighters, and kill him on turn 1.

I don't understand why people struggle against him. For god's sakes you can plop a dozen explosive barrels around him and end it with a firebolt.

If you fight him at nightsong it's a much harder fight, imo. I went back and fought him in his chambers instead. (after getting sparta kicked to my doom several times)

You can literally push him from the ledge (Karlach using shove or anyone using a spell or skill) and then finish off the trash mobs.

Counterspell. you can counterspell his Animate Dead if the caster wasn't the one to initiate dialogue.

for me the real nightmare was the horrific pathfinding during that fight, especially in the elevated rocks.

I ungrouped Karlach and she pushed him off mid-dialogue. So no fight activated at all.

Sneak into position. Activate the encounter with one person and try to kill him in one round. The undead are easy to mop up afterwards. The most annoying thing is how buggy the encounter is. There is a section that up on a ledge that is bugged and you can't target anything in that area.

I can't remember if he even animated any undead in my fight against him. He spammed Cloudkill instead

Dont trigger the fight, just put barrel all over the place, blow everything, then focus him till he's cooked. EZ fight if he's not aggro.

Hell yea, I cast fog then sneaked up and pushed him before he summoned.

Clerics are very good in that fight as well, turn undead does wonders.

How do you not have anything to deal with undead, one of the most common enemies in video games, ever. Especially since a lot of enemies leading up to that fight are undead.
