SPOILERS. The ending is bad and makes no sense.

So after you get the 3 nether stones you go to the emperor and you basically have only one of two choices. You give him the stones and he eats the guys brain or you refuse him and here is where it gets weird. HE GOES AND JOINS THE ELDER BRAIN? What the actual ♥♥♥♥ is that? There is no nuance or subtlety to any of it. No discussion. No persuasions checks. No attempt or option to try and get them to both work together.

This series of events absolutely killed the entire story for me. This is like mass effect 3 levels of bad endings except there you at least had 3 different flavors of cupcakes and here we only get 2.

I have heard a lot of people saying Act 3 was rushed and unfinished. After beating the game all I can do is 100% agree that this ending was absolutely rushed out the door. Its like they got to the last few chapters of a book and just hastily scrawled out some nonsense and closed the book.

Strange, I'm guessing you get different options based on choices you've made because I could:

Give him the stones

Keep the stones for myself

Fully become a Mindflayer, this is the one I went for

Give the stones to Gale

Give the stones to Karlach

Free the guy using a hammer obtained in Avernus

And then there were several different options at the VERY, VERY end.

Either way Act 3 is definitely VERY unfinished with a lot of cut content.

He didn't turn against me in my playthrough but the choice I made may be the reason why. (Was also playing Dark Urge)

Yeah, there is some stuff but its clearly very unfinished.

Did you get any ending slide or cutscene with your love interest or just about what happened to your companions? Even those whose quests you have fully finished. Is there any?

The best ending is 'Hero of the Forgotten Realms': everybody is saved, the brain is dead, no tadpoles even if you are a half-Illithid. + a video after credits. I like the ending.

Nope, there are other endings. In mine the stones were completely unimportant, because Gale blew the brain up.
