Trap disarm kits not working?

So I'm doing a second run through act 1 as a different race/class to see what changes for me as I play and I'm currently doing the hag bit. Going through her second 'area' in her house? (i use in loosely) and I'm trying to disarm one of the traps, I have six disarm kits in my inventory and its a high DC trap, failed once and the only option was too use an inspiration to roll again. Aren't trap disarm kits meant to be used the same as lockpicks? If you fail you can use either one more of them, or an inspiration to roll the die again? Was I just understanding that wrong this entire time?

Yeah they don't work, I'm pettry they're bugged. Or they removed the mechanic but forgot to the remove the items, just like they did with the rope.

I don't think they work like lockpicks, pretty sure I always had to use inspiration to retry disarming a trap

Fail lock picking and generally lock picks break. Fail disarming and generally trap goes off. No retries on that. Imo works as intended.

Funny thing about messing with traps, if you mess it up, they tend to go boom.

So if you fail, its either use an inspiration or suffer the consequences.

It depends on the trap. Some traps spring if you try to disarm and fail, and some traps can't be disarmed after they've sprung. The use of an additional disarm kit would be another attempt after the failure, while the use of inspiration is a re-do on the previous roll. So, yes, some traps work different than locks.
