It is advisable to not make Moonrise Towers hostile before going to the Shadowfell. While sneak killing future enemies without agro everyone else to make the final marathon battle easy.
Everything that you can physically and mentally endure.
There's no turning back once you advance.
People were negatively affected in my game for progressing too soon.
While with other stories you may get a second chance.
The save the tiefling quest/assault the grove is failed when you reach the mountain pass / Act 2 area . But otherwise you don't have many side quest failures.
1- save Inn
2- go to moonrise pt1 - save people (if you want and go talk to them at inn) get ordered to to to the mausoleum
3- do all other side quests before entering the mausoleum first (world state changes if you complete the shar temple
4- enter mausoleum and do or dont do Raf's quest, clear shar temple
5 - back to moonrise pt2 - follow this to the end of act 2.
if you enter the mausoleum and clear the shar temple before visiting moonrise you can no longer save anyone at moonrise or finish any of the quests at the Inn.
Nothing leading to this moment indicated this was the culimnation of Act 2.
Ah well. Thanks for the headsup everyone. Feels really anti climactic to have to walk away at this point, but next stop: Moonrise.
This was an old thread, but to answer your question, yes. At least you should be able to.
Moonrise is part of the ending to the chapter, but until then the area acts like the Goblin Camp in Act 1. WIth the right dialogue you can get in and talk to everyone and complete quests without anyone turning hostile. There are a few vendors, NPCs related to your companions, and quests. There is only one door that is strictly off-limits, and only one area that's marked red (but you can still safely sneak in there if you know how). You can save everyone in the prison basement floor (which usually triggers combat) and kill those guys without making the rest of the Tower hostile. I think you can also kill the guys on the docks safely if you want, or save them for later. Or skip them entirely.
There will still be a few Moonrise-related quests (to save people) that you can't complete yet, as they're part of the final goal where you return to (a hostile) Moonrise Tower after Gauntlet of Shar.
