Please Help me
I tried using a mod and it forever killed my game it seems like.

I put a mod into the mod folder then tried loading the game. Data Mismatch error
I deleted the file from the mod folder. Load game, data mismatch error
Then I verified the game files and then load the game. Data mismatch error
Uninstalled the game and redownloaded it. Load the game, Data mismatch error

Everything got F'ed all because I wanted to try a mod and now I can't play the game at all no matter what I try to do

did you fail to read step 1 through 3?

There is a last resort. system recovery.
There is no mod folder period in the game's data folder. I never used a manger. I jsut put the mod in the folder in App Data and all hell broke loose.
So, I have to ask - wwhat does the read me file tell you for uninstalling? or the site where you got the mod - every mod comes with installition/unistall instructions either in the file download or on the page you got the mod from. if you followed those instructions, chances are it wasn't the mod, but something else.

I am curious though, what mod? If we knew that, you might get more specific answers from someone who uses it.

Try going to users/user name/appdata/local/Larian Studios folder then first delete the launcher folder. It should rewrite it back to default when relaunching afterwords. If not work then delete the other folder as well. Keep in mind the other folder will wipe all save data but better then not being able to play it at all.

You can do that?

Right click the game in steam library, properties, under launch options add the line "--skip-launcher" without the quotation marks, this will skip the launcher itself, but won't necessarily fix the issue as it's just bypassing showing you the launcher, not removing it entirely.
Thanks man. I am now in the game again

Np may need to run verify integrity to recreate the launcher folder if doesn't do it on it's own when launching. Should still be back to default though if altered in anyway.

Np just keep in mind may want to try other methods like that guy mentioned since not technically a permanent fix.

You can't just drop the file into the mod folder you need to edit the modsettings.lsx file as well. Maunal modding is for the more advanced player.

Better to use the BG3modmanager
