Broken multiplayer?

Is it true that if you open your game to drop ins, It can break your game because of broke joke characters being permanently added to your party?

MP works as intented, you host, other players joins, now that session has your character and your friends and if you use that session, you'll have to use your friends toon.

Yep this is utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the MP character should LEAVE and be replaced with the initial member they took the spot of. When the person leaves the game their custom character needs to as well instead of being stuck with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the Barbarian for the rest of the game. Yeah yeah I know load a earlier save, but that shouldn't even be the case in a game made in 2023.

Imagine opening your lobby for character creation and expecting a group of complete strangers with no chat to actually finish the whole game.

If that sounds likely to you, I have a bridge to sell you in New York.

Serious answers though; you can respec their broken characters to be whatever you want outside their race, face, and name.

If their character looks stupid enough to ruin the game for you, I'd suggest kicking and restarting immediately even if the whole premise you've set out here is already ridiculous.

You can also wait to open the lobby until you get followers and they can respec those to be whatever THEY like.

Respecing a broken character doesn't replace all the dialogue and interactions that come along with the base party..

My question is what are you expecting from playing this long game with randoms? You can't expect to beat the game that way, can you?

MP for this game specifically seems to be for those who have a group who can all agree to play together for that save file, or at least trust the host to play with or without one / all of them.

If someone joins on a follower, you CAN change them out you miss nothing. If you let people create custom characters from scratch, you'll be stuck with them.

And the point remains that letting rando people join and create custom characters is, to be kind, a crap shoot. You'd be about 1000% better off joining the official larian discord and using that.
