People in the witch's house
I'm trying to save Mayrina, but there are also paladins and clerics who entered the cave under the house, they're all controlled by the cursed masks. I want to spare them and kill the witch only, so they'll probably be freed from the masks. I'm trying stealth, but it's hard to go through them even 1 by 1. A little help, please?

If you fight the witch and leave those guys alive, she teleports them to her side during the battle - and they not only fight you, but also buff her, significantly so.

If you win the fight, and kill her or take her +1 STR / +1 DEX bonus and let her go - the masked guys remain hostile, and keep fighting you, even after the witch cutscene. I ran into this problem myself.

So, bypassing them with stealth and mask on is pointless. If you really want to, you put on the mask on a single character, enter turn mode, bless character with save cantrip, because mask rolls WIS domination every turn, and if you fail game over...and in turn mode, dash past the guys, jump across the ledge, then take the mask off. Repeat for every character, one by one. Save-scumming you will have to, fighter will lose a lot of rolls.

But, you can knock them out. Enable non-fatal attacks in the hotbar, fight them, knock them out, they will 'dead' but not dead. I havent tried, but theoretically, you should be able to heal them afterwards. or, from a role-playing perspective, even if you dont talk to, or heal, them afterwards, leaving them out cold on the floor of the cave also counts as a 'save'.

Functionally, they have nothing good on them. Dont waste your time, its a time-consuming but minor thing.

Yeah I manage to knock them out then removed there mask thinking that would help and it ended up killing them. So keep that in mind if trying to spare them. Likely have to go back and remove the masks after you kill the hag

Non-lethal damage is bugged where masks are concerned. I non-lethally disabled masked puppets in Act3 and game told me that they died.

If you are able to kill her in one turn in the house before she can run away they wont be hostile only one of them will take the mask off though the others will be convinced she is either sleeping or left and will be back for them.

you can free the skull staring at the mirror by smashing the mirror, you see their spirit escaping

I used basilisk oil to un-petrify the dwarf and he dies immediately from an incurable disease

I could not figure out how to help the future seeing guy or the woman missing eyes

if you 'kill' auntie before hurting any mask people, it breaks them from her compulsion, but only one has preserved their sanity

you can cast frost on the burning cage to stop the fire.

I always just push auntie in the chasm and the fight ends immediately

Unfortunately there's little you can do for them. Sparing them actually just makes the fight harder.

Actually they are the only folks in the whole game where Non-Lethal is working as intended:)
So they do not die, but ofc you cannot heal them, but if you defeat Ethel they should be available. You can even talk to one of them afaik. (Might need a short or long rest though.) I forgot to visit them thereafter, but later on when i came to check they were not there anymore.)

Yeah the solutions for every problem are wildly inconsistent tbh. This same crap comes up again later with a gnome slave girl that is simply just scripted to not be savable.
A spell/item/ability will work a certain way for one situation and then work differently or not at all for another one.
Like speak with dead will work on some corpses who tell you next to nothing, and then most others just won't say anything at all.
And i've yet to see the remove curse spell work on a single godamn thing, and if cursed masks made by a witch controlling their minds doesn't count as a curse then what tf are we even doing. lol

Basically the devs spent too much time scripting every single encounter and not enough time just working out the fundamental mechanics.

So they'll live in insanity even after the witch dies? Nah, killing them sucks but is less cruel.
