Don't worry about it, theyll hit the same level at roughly the same time, +/- 1 kill.
Feels like an oversight. Minor but annoying.
It not being shared means it's useless for anyone except the player character. Companions are only ever brought up to your amount of XP. As soon as the companion that was inspired leaves the party and you gain ANY xp, that experience is functionally lost. They would have to never leave your party for there to be an actual benefit to them gaining XP separate from you.
many action , event can trigger reward xp ^^
but there's steel a safety sub gameplay feature ,
when you adding a new member or your squad , the level with at the same minimum level at yours when the member go in your squad or a recruit a new member
This would just make it so you're forced to abandon companions as you outlevel them.
