BG3 Doesn't Deserve the Praise

It's unfinished. An unfinished game is not a 10/10 or setting any new standard. BG3 can be a great game. but this narrative that BG3 is some sort of revolutionary title is a terrible take.

Only way to find out is by contacting the Devs directly, rather than making numbers up and state it as facts. I mean, every game has it's fair share of cut content and yet nobody for the past x-amount of years has been complaining about it.

Mostly because people have been indoctrinated by the idea of DLCs actually being post-launch content rather than deliberatly cut content, I'd assume.

The world setting is not very good , like the goblins , as a simple tribal society , the female goblins , which are more depicted in the game as males , covered in filth and rags , spend apparently most of the time to theire stylized modern attractive haircuts , rare races are now half the majority of fearun , like white humans are the biggest minority now .

Evil races are no longer evil

Cant make a custom party

Premade characters are mostly strong female/edgy bi boys

Alot of quests can bug out if you dont do the intendet steps 1 by 1 .

There are no alignemts.

There is no real evil playthrough , you have to make that up by yourself .its ok ,it is an rpg, but older games had the options

Party consists only of 4 ppl .

3 rd act is not well polished .

There is tons of cut content , like the upper city , which was still advertised as " full explorable" 2 wekks prior to release .

Some woke BS referrences .

The story is not well written imo.


Tldr . Like most games all what you need is hype , streamers and 10 hours of good content at the beginning , and it will be treated as the second coming of jesus .

10% of the players finished act 1

50% of the players didnt even take 4 long rests . In what ..13 days after release ?

It's mostly because there are loose threads still present in the game. Content being cut and covered up is one thing, but there are narrative threads that don't go anywhere and conversations that are broken because they still require triggers from the cut content.

The facial animations are FAR better than "my face is tired." For one, they didn't use an algorithm to animate the faces, they used motion capture.

The Last of Us 2 doesn't deserve the praise because clearly most players hated that game, which has a creepy unlikable new protagonist and no revolutionary gameplay. Players gave it 3.5 if I remember well, journalists gave it 9 or 10. But Baldur's Gate 3 is popular to both, players and journalists. It is revolutionary for its genre and the characters are very charismatic. So I think it deserves the praise.
