No armor as sorc?

Hello,

I just respect from rogue to sorc and I can't wear any armor anymore because I have no proficiency whatsoever. Do I simply not wear any armor at all as sorc?

Yes, use the spell mage armor or let someone else cast it at you

sorc/wizard aren't proficient with armor, level 1 fighter does give you heavy armor though

Respecc and take 2 levels of paladin first and then go sorcerer. Really good multiclass.

You can wear any armor if you have the proficiency for it.
If you wear armor without proficiency you can't cast spells.
I don't wear armor - you can have 13 base with Mage Armor or Dragonborn.
My level 12 sorc has AC 20 with all gear.

It is all about defensive spells. (e.g. Shield)

Yeah, in order to get any armor proficiency you'd have to take feats for it or get it from your race.
Getting AC up as a caster usually entails using buffs like mage armor, shield of faith, etc. and then maybe a few items like bracers of defense, cloak of protection, etc.

I tend to go human on my casters to get the shield prof for an easy +2 or 3 AC.

Magic Casters usually wear Robes or Magic Clothes.
You find normal Robes alot.

You don't, you get high dex and bracers of defense plus the occasional spell buff to AC if needed.

Some races grant armor proficiency as a trait. Humans and Half-Elves get light armor(and shields), Githyanki get medium armor(or both Light and Medium?), etc. Mage Armor spell is better than most light armor until Act 3. Bracers of defense are +2 AC if you don't wear any armor(that includes shields), so you can also rock those if your character's race lacks any armor proficiency.

Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer also has 13ac by default, which is basically free Mage Armor.

Sorcerers wear robes. There are some incredibly powerful ones you can get too.

Correct, but you also don't need it. There's so many other goodies in the game you can get to boost your AC. Mage armor for starters, or if you're a draconic sorcerer, you don't even need that, you come with it built in. Having high Dex will bump it up to. There's Bracers of defense +2 pretty early in the game. With a 16 dexterity, just those things get you to AC18. That's s basically like wearing full plate. And like I said, there's way more to come. Your AC will be up in the low to mid 20s by the end of the game.

And I'm just talking raw sorc. Once you get into multclassing or taking armor proficiency feats...forget about it.

two or so levels of paladin then the rest sorc, go for the adamantine splint and you're good to go

My Sorc/warlock is a 2 hander melee beast with 30AC and no armour.
