SPOILERS Need help with act 2

I'm trying to do the marcus battle and i'm completely stuck. My team is a wizard drow lolth cultist+Gale+Wyll+Shadowheart. I'm level 5 i try to save isobel from Marcus but they beat her before i can kill them all. I tried doing the battle that comes if you fail and ended up dead. I'm getting kind of frustrated. Should i be higher level? I can't find more missions to do....

on average people are lvl 8. some lvl 9 if goin on killin sprree.
id say a minimmum of 7 n 3 quarters by end of act1.

Which content? Thats the problem apart from the Halsin Mission that got bugged on me i can't find more missions... I checked the mountain pass but it was a dead end with the giths....

You should be at least level 6 by then.

The goal is to protect Isobel so cast sanctuary on her or invisibility potions so they can't target her.

It's a difficult fight without using some cheese but it's doable.

Your checklist:
-grove?
-goblin camp?
-spider lair n Queen?
-harpyes?
-Carlach Paladin issue?
-Old Hag/Wizard lady?
-owlbear?
-secret plant guys down south that blow up?
-uh gnolls?
Idk, lots more just in first map.

Then go to Mountains-Do the Creche, kill everybody
Don't go into act 2.
Go to UnderDark.
underdark has like 2 or 3 maps in itself. Save plant men, save dwarves.

If you went mountain pass route then you should have found the Blood of Lathander, really helps Shadowheart.
Sounds to me at level 5 you skipped the entirety of the Underdark area.

Without seeing what you have done, hard to know what you missed. But yes, in both of my games so far I was level 7 to 8 at the Isobel fight. I actually found a cave I missed on my 2nd game with some crab type things under the Last Light Inn. Just have to explore.

Course level alone does not win a fight. Learning tactics, using all your options (spells, abilities, items), examining mobs (right click on them) to see any buffs/resistances they have to avoid attacking with those , figuring if an AE will kill a bunch of low hit point mobs so the rest of the group can focus on what matters ... etc

You can go back and do the underdark at this point without issue.

I skipped the mountain pass and went back there halfway through act 2.

How the hell are people level 9 during Marcus? I managed to get level 6 after the lantern dude battle and I did complete the entire map 1, with the exception of hag and I didn't kill every single goblin outside of the ruins because it felt stupid. I could still do quest in Mountain Pass, but I doubt it would give me two whole levels. I also did pretty much full Underdark and Grim.

But I could easily do Marcus at level 5, he was actually a pushover. I didn't even had a tactic, I was not rested and just blasted him with Karlach.

I can't remember if I cast hold person, stunned him with monk, or of my monk just 1 shot him turn 1 (and btw this was a regular dex monk, not tavern brawler, so damage could go a lot higher). Regardless of specifics, he was dead before his second turn.

Your team sounds like it has a notable lack of single target dps. So you might have to hit him with some control spell.

As for more missions, look at a map of the act 1 areas online. Go to places that are dark. I missed at least a few things I know about, and I skipped 1 area intentionally, but there was still more than enough to get level 6, and I got level 7 very shortly into shadowlands.

did it with level 5 on highest level, just protect isobel by some magic, cast haste on your melee fighters (or archers). my set up, me evo wiz, shadowheart pure cleric, karlach and laezel. no multiclass, just pure classes.

karlach and laezel kill everyone. its my 2nd walkthrough, after this battle i was level 6. i totally skipped underdark in my 2nd run, passed the swamp quest with ethel just to get a difference experience. now im in the tower of moonrise at 27h played with level 6,2 and not many things done in act 2.

you need some martial fighters which can solve most fight with a bit magic for "cheese" if you call haste or swiftness potions like this.

i couldnt solve even on mid difficult my 1st playthrough for example without scrolls of sphere of invu and haste potions.

the marcus fight isnt that complicated, sometimes bad RNG in the 1st round which you can maybe only solve by a reload, but then its not that hard. shadowheart for example turned 2 undead karlach and laezel killed marcus in 2 turns.

Use Shadowheart to cast Sanctuary on Isobel after she attacks(everytime). GG mop up the rest.
