Necromancy of Thay sorcerer options. *Spoiler*

If you try to read the Necromancy of Thay book as a sorcerer there is an option to calm the magic. If you pass all the checks when you try to read it it says the magic has gone dormant.

Does that mean it locks you out of ever using it same as if we had destroyed it?

I've not personally tried it, but usually when there is a class action it is just the same as passing the skill check, but sometimes the DC is easier, or you get advantage on the roll. If you gain the speak with dead ability then I would assume that everything is working normally and you can keep calm and carry on.

Nope. You can still get the second spell from it later if you did the sorc options.

The book has a key to unlock the final pages in act 3.

I did recieve speak with dead but not "Forbidden Knowledge"

Could you help me get this straight...
If you normally succeed wisdom checks do you recieve forbidden knowledge right away or is it always recieved on further readings?

UPDATE: Turns out I did get Forbidden Knowledge but it was in "Tags" rather than buffs section.
