How powerful Elminster is?
I'm not familiar with D&D , there's even no option to have him join player against Elder brain in the end , is he gonna be too broken or something?

Elminster is basically, more or less, the most powerful wizard in the entirety of Faerûn

Mountain.
Elminster: Fireball.
Mountain. Where?

God level powerful, he's basically the Realms' version of Gandalf. He'll observe, advise, and steer events, but not get directly involved himself - because if he did he'd solve the whole campaign and still be home in time for lunch.

He could take on every single enemy in this entire game *at once* and stroll back home (or rather, teleport) without so much as dust on his robes.

Yes, he's lvl 20 I think, but he's stats block is somewhat like CR26-30? Which is on same scale as god avatars, aspect of Tiamat, ancient dragons etc. Dude is broken, tho is much less broken in 5e than he was in 3.5

Elminster is exceedingly powerful, if he got involved there wouldn't be a game for us to play. For example in 3e this was his build Fighter 1/Rogue 2/Cleric 3/Wizard 24/Archmage 5 making him CR 39. Archmages were among the most powerful arcane spellcasters found throughout all of Faerûn. These practitioners of the Art were experts at manipulating and altering their spells, often in strange ways[forgottenrealms.fandom.com]

If we go by 3rd edition stats he has an AC of 31 and 369 HP and is CR 39, meaning a party of 4 level 39 characters would be recommended for it to be a fair fight

"He is Mystra's chosen, I believe, which means he could use 9th-level spells and maybe even a limited number of 10th-level spells if Mystra would allow it. In short, he'd walk in, cast one spell, and the Elder brain would be gone. Bye bye.

By lore level 40, 1 level rogue the rest wizard and I think 5 or 10 archmage. But super powerful.

I know hes supposed to be one of the only wizards to equal Daurgothoth in terms of magical power. Both of them being chosen of mystra.

Edit: I missed the part about 5e/3.5 lol

He also has multiple spells named after him, if a Wizard has multiple spells named after him then that's a surefire way of knowing he's too powerful to be a sidekick to the PCs.

He's DND's equivalent of the emperor of mankind.
