I was not aware THIS much content got scrapped.
Really sad to see.
Interesting. So I wasn't imagining things when I remembered someone datamining Karlach's voice files, that actually featured her getting cured of her infernal engine condition.
I am hoping we'll get her good ending and most of this content via future updates or perhaps a Definitive Edition.
They did after all do the same in Original Sin 1 and 2 - where through DE, they added content and revamped majority of the game and especially their last Acts too.
Nope, not imagining it at all. Karlach's quest line was fully finished including voice acting, she is meant to survive and have a happy ending just like other companions.
Some are confirmation from Swen himself admitting to cutting certain things like the Upper City and Minthara due to unnamed "bugs" and others are dataminers who have posted not only the files they found but some fully voice acted sound bites from cut dialogue.
Further still a lot of it are things that were present in past iterations of the game, such as Shar worship for instance, that simply no longer exist as an option without modding them back in.
For cut content like Daisy these were things that were available for years in Early Access and then rewritten in the launch version and due to their nature are impossible to simply restore with mods.
Funfact: Tav is named Tav because the game had an early build named "Gustav"
Not enough to ruin the game, but act 3 has so many insane high points, and so many low points. Its a complete roller coaster of emotions lol
Hope a definitive edition gets released down the road. They definitely made bank even without the console release to justify the extra labour
Do not feel you can call datamined stuff "Cut" since it was never fully in the game to begin with. More like "Not Implemented".
The Nautiloid fights were just for tutorial purposes so losing them did not hurt really. I do agree some of the other stuff would have been nice to have though.
Ah, cool. I wasn't doubting you, I just like to know where things come from (I never played EA or watched interviews/etc.). :) As disappointed as I am in this game, knowing this cut content is there at least gives me hope that maybe a mod will restore it at some point.
My thanks for your work.
Piecemeal solutions to cut content doesn't negate the fact that content was cut in my opinion. I also didn't say "These are all terrible" or "Some of these are ok" I just listed the content that was removed and had notably been implemented at some point in the game files or had been promised by Larian.
Things like the Nautolid tutorial being cut are, in my opinion, totally fine and possibly even for the better as I thought the EA version of the tutorial was too long. I also don't think it's necessarily bad that they cut crafting because it was only ever barely implemented to begin with.
I hold out hope (perhaps irrationally) that they'll come back and add some of the cut content at some point.
In particular, my first real drive to finish the game I ended up shelving because of Karlach.
Once I learned that the obvious pointers to get her fixed for good led to nothing satisfactory, I just don't have the heart to see that one through. If they ever fix it, I'll go finish that story, I'd rather scrap however many hours I put into that campaign than have my MC be impotent to save his girl at the end.
