How to move your saves from C:\
If you don't want your save files to fill up your C:\ here are the steps you can take to move them:
1) go to C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Larian Studios
2) cut (Ctrl + X) the Baldur's Gate 3 folder and move it (Ctrl + V) to its new location.
3) open Command Prompt as admin
4) write "cd C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Larian Studios"
5) write:

mklink /D "Baldur's Gate 3" "X:\New Path\Baldur's Gate 3"

where you replace the X:\New Path with the path to the new location of the Baldur's Gate 3 folder (from step 2).

6) enjoy!

The issue starts with how many you keep. By the end up to 80MB from what I have seen. Some maniacs never deleted their savegames and accumulated 10GB - hence you see those posts about cloud saves issues...

I had over 8 GB of saves, which prompted me to move them. I also limited the amount of auto saves and quick saves from 25/25 to 5/10.

I keep getting a syntax error, is there a more clear way to see the correct way the command should look in the command prompt?

there is no reason to keep more than few saves per run, constantly replaced while you progress
"nooo because i bla bla bla" then deal whit it

Well this thread is literally giving an option how to deal with it. What's your point?

I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work... perhaps you are writing:
"cd C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Larian Studios"
instead of
cd C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Larian Studios
?

The process described is for Windows PCs using also powershell. Mac should have it differently.

It's your sintax error instead, man. I advice you to rethink about your suggested procedure, cause it looks like it worked for you by random. I am trying everything but it doesn't find my folder writing what you suggested to write. It keeps saying "Impossible to find the directory". Writing "cd C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Larian Studios" without the " " doesn't bring to nothing, there is no folder there, even if being italian I put Utenti=Users and Utente=User

Read the original post or use the guide as reference. Not the post where they investigate a user error. The method worked and still works. No changes there since it is managed by the OS.

yah you right, my fault. I did think it was the same guy who posted the discussion, not another one. My apologies. But I did read the post. Doesn't change the fact there is some sintax error in the method. Sadly I am not experienced enough to say where.

I have used the "code" tags to make it clear what to write without misleading characters. The stuff marked as code can be copied 1:1 after you adjusted it to your version with your username.

If something is still unclear there, ask and refer to the specific section. I will try to help with misunderstandings. Important is that you make sure to follow the instructions with moving the folder first before setting the junction(s).

Once you understand how it works you can use it for any folder and decide to use it for savegame folder only e.g.
