I'm doing Pally for the fun of the rp

I've yet to think of a class that wouldnt be fun for the Dark Urge.

Dark Urge Bard has been most fun for me. But Paladin could be interesting
I played Dark Urge paladin on an arduous path between fall (I broke my oath several times) and redemption, and I found it to be a real blast to roleplay.

The problem is that I put a level of barbarian to represent the fury of the dark urge (and because I wanted to go without armor and good AC), and the game crashes if you try to resume the oath, beware multiclass paladin.
Monk, for no reason other than I barely hear people talk about the class in BG3 forums.

Going paladin play keeping my oath a little, then break it stay with that a little then switch to barb berserk killing anything in my way.
Feel it will be for the RP of slowing going for noble hero to mindless killer.

Did they ever fix or address the forced Oathbreaking for a DU Paladin? If they didn't, and the OP doesn't want to play an Oathbreaker, then they should play Monk.

Dark Urge Paladin is cool for RP reason, you immediately become an oathbreaker due to the first dark urge event though. You can go with the flow if you like oathbreaker, but if you don't, it's a clunky pairing

I know it's not an option presented here, but I personally like the Dark Urge as a Barbarian (although I should note that I may be biased since I've been playing a dual-wielding Rogue/Barb multiclass Dark Urge for a first playthrough). The unique Barbarian dialogue just fits so well with the Dark Urge's psychotic tendencies!

Of the two options given though, I think Dark Urge Paladin works better with the storyline, bizzarely enough, and Paladin I feel is in a slightly stronger position power-scaling wise compared to Monk.

i mean the way of the monk is self-discipline
and having a murderous urge whilst trying to overcome it via self-discipline seems quite a story aswell.

If you pick paladin you will be an oathbreaker by 1st long rest, just as a warning.

Some people would like that though, that's your choice.

Half Orc Barbarian Dark Urge 17 str 15 dex 16 con 8 wis 8 int 8 char Named Bhaal. He gives in to every murderous urge and kills everyone that pisses him off in the slightest. Think Chaotic Neutral with anger issues.

I did a Dragonborn monk Dark Urge and it was actually pretty fun.

Wait. can you be a good Dark Urge
like choose all the good options despite a few bad outcomes? :O
