Report a translation problem
Supposedly, the timer was triggered when you killed a mind flayer after landing on the beach.
I reloaded progressively older saves. Nada, still dead. It would make more sense if they died because I had already progressed to Act 2 without encountering them, but the fact that my character still says "someone needs help" and the three guards are at the invisible door trying to pry it open makes it seem like they should still be able to be rescued?
However, that entire area just seems buggy in general. I had issues with the Githyanki patrol encounter not triggering half the time on my reloaded saves, which may be linked to the fact that I never recruited Lae'zel into my party.
My friend is also playing with the Dark Urge, and VERY early on in the game, like before even meeting Withers or going to the Emerald Grove, she got the inspiration for leaving Benryn to die despite being nowhere near the area. The whole area feels like a bit of a mess.
For my part Florrick lived and Benryn was found dead, but I was on a much earlier patch.
I think the timer starts as soon as you spot the first guard / hear the commotion - game doesn't really make it clear though.
I found a solution... I had to load a game from 4 hours ago.
When I went to fight the gnolls and activate the mysterious Harper's chest, I went too far to the left. A sign from my character "someone needs help" appeared at the gate. I ignored it and went to kill the gnolls, find Karlach, kill the witch and finish the Kargah mission.
Now Florrick and Benryn still alive.
Am looking for the Joltshooter bow, is it totally lost if Florick is dead in the fire ?
