If you keep your caster out of range of counterspell, she can't counter your caster.
You can also cause her to waste her counterspells by casting lower level stuff. If she counters it, she spent at least a 3 to counter a level 2. Once she's out of level 3-5, lay waste with your heavies.
Finally, and I can't stress this one enough... potion of speed on your fighter or paladin will get them right in her face with 4 attacks. Do that with an archer (ranger+hunter's mark) or warlock(+hex) as well, and you've got a heck of a lot of attacks on her. Focus fire. Take her down. Then trash everyone else.
I literally CC'd her and her entire group of cronies at the bottom of the stairs and just picked off their weak guys as they came towards the stairs. Jaheira and the Harpers will distract them to the point that you probably won't even take actual damage with your party.
After accepting the 'quest' from her to help out Balthazar I noticed she walked into a library alone, just ganged up and murdered her. Not going through that black hole/darkness/something something hadar bs again.
Time to cheat with WEMOD
I've had this game since when it was released in EA and bought it because I enjoyed playing bg 1 and 2 long ago and if I knew this was going to be as hard as this I wouldn't have bothered with it. I feel this is not bg 3 but dos 3 as it is very similar to dos2 which is another game I struggled with and never finished. I think they used balders gate as a marketing ploy.
I wonder, does the city of balders gate look similar to the old balders gate or the D&D baldurs gate
Summons, as in every CRPG, are amazing because they soak damage that would otherwise be dropping on your guys. The Harpers serve this purpose as well. Get a spiritual weapon out even if that is the only summon you have. Speed potions for melees, hell maybe everyone just to get out of the kill zone that is the stairs. Once you are out of there and know who to focus on (the adepts), this is not a hard fight. If you have done everything Act 1/2 you should be level 9 here.
As for Counterspell they will usually counter the first cast so just make sure its a throwaway like Hunter's Mark or Hex or something else you can do with a bonus action.
Harpers helps a lot.
To be honest, it is extremlu hard fight. And after you kill Z'rell prepare self for pure hell. :))
BOOM BOOM guys will come :))
You lost them in the fight for Isobel I guess? You can win that fight.
Kill the guy coming for her, and put CC spells in front of the door for the room you are in. The enemy will try to swarm her. Also, you can heal her.
