Is it really that good?

I never played D&D so I'm still learning the ropes, it's a good game. I have enjoyed learning and playing what I have, so yeah I would say it "really is that good"

You won't miss out if you play it later, after buying it on sale.

The gameplay itself is phenominal and the world are beautiful. Theres a huge array of enemies, gear, things to collect and immerse yourself in.
The battles are my favorite part, but they take a long time and are turn-based. I really love this so thats what is keeping me playing the game, however some people hate the long drawn out fights.
The story is poorly written and the dialogues all come off like they were scripted by a horny teenager. People unnecissary tell you about how theyre gay, and talk about sex way more than people would in real life. Just weird stuff that seems really forced.
For example, theres a female character in this game who is very important, shes been imprisoned for many years... after you fight an epic dungeon and finally free her.. one of the first things she does is talk about how shes looking forward to reuniting with her lesbian lover.. Its weird and it breaks the immersion, we just went on this massive epic journey and fought impossible odds, doing what nobody else ever could, and are fighting to save the world from destruction, who tf cares about your old lesbian lover?
Also every single strong character is female, and the dudes all talk lispy and feminine.. which gets old fast.. its just very forced and unnatural. I think the potential of this game is massive and it could have been one of my favorite games ever, but the devs were too eager to push their new age philosophies in to every aspect of the game.
If this stuff doesnt bother you then you will have a great time.

Game is good. as you think about it as good CRPG from larian,
But if we take it as best RPG OF DECADE. BEST GATE OF ALL TIME AND ETC - no.
Diablo 4 still worse yes, but nope. baldur is not a miracle.
And yea plot of act 3 sucks. almost kotor 2 level.

there is a certain bias towards any masterpiece game.
IF tbs/crpg is not for you, its not likely this game will change your mind.
But within its genre, its great.

this is the first larian game i like.
dos2 was meh for me. idk why.
