Does the Owlbear egg ever hatch

I still have this owlbear egg in my inventory from act 1. Does it hatch at any point or can I eat it?

It hatches in Act 4 if you make the right choices.

There's actually something you can do with it. I don't think it's impactful, really, just something funny. On the mountain pass route there's an NPC who wants you to steal an egg. If you have the owlbear egg, you can attempt to hand that in.

Yes you can sell the owl bear egg to the woman and convince her it's a Gith egg. The in Act III when you go to the society of brilliance building, some people will be dead because the egg hatched.

if you sell her the owlbear egg you just get money and nothing happens, by act 3 the leader of the society is still asking for a gith egg if you have it

the massacre only happens if you give her the real gith egg
